You are right. A said, it's easy to find one here in Italy, but not so easy to find an excellent one.

Outside Italy? there are some in Germany.

There is one in Portugal for sale right now.
Some information says that some "Turbos" may actually have been delivered new by the factory in Portugal.

An ultra rare color combination and a rare very good conditions car can do a big price, but I have to be honest and say that I didn't expect so much, even if is 20 times less than a 288 GTO price, that has been produced in more or less the same numbers.

If anyone is looking for a very good one here in Italy, I can find it for less and do a proper PPI

    ciao

Again, the website AutoScout24 has them listed by the zillions.

Well .... not quite 'zillions' but you get the picture.

Just checked: 112 Ferrari 208 engined cars; €50K to €190K.
One in Blue over Black "Boxer" paint scheme.

I'm going on with the book about the 208 turbo and the other turbo cars of the eighties, including the 126 CK and the 126 C2. most of the book will be about the two liters turbocharged cars, but there will be a lot about the 288, the F40 and something about the Formula 1 car of 1981 and 1982 too. There will be a bit of room for the Schedoni suitcases too

Any Idea about what you would find in that book, or just any tip?

    Thank you very much.

    ciao

It was an odd auction as the $125k bid came out of nowhere supposedly from someone who had seen the car and met the seller so it's strange that, despite the huge increase in bid offering he apparently didn't know what the reserve was. Afterwards there was some discussion during which the seller revealed that the car had been sold. BaT however, obviously didn't get their cut so not sure how they feel about that. Seems like a dealer playing the system for cheap exposure and advertisement IMO.

For those who are interested, some years ago I started a thread about these cars in the showroom section:
    208: the only-italian models

Lots of useful informations and pictures.
    Ciao!

If I only knew how to do it...
    Please use the "search" function.
The name of the thread should be "208 the only-italian models"

Well...I don't want to be rude, but I recall an interview of Gilles Villeneuve, who is quoted in the add.
Journalist: And what do you think of the 208 Turbo?
G.V: it is a piece of sh.t! It has no power. I don't understand why they have downsized the engine to 2 litre, to put a Turbo to it. Now: keep the engine at 3 litre, and then put a Turbo onto that, and that would be a fantastic car.

Yes, they later did the 288 GTO (a 2 M car today). But the first ever was the 208 GTB turbo, in April 1982, and not the 288 GTO, that came out just two years later.

And then you have to remember that Gilles (my youth hero, but a 100% crazy man too) also described as "The Big Red Cadillac" his 126 CK F1 racing car: so he didn't like (the 1.5 liters...) Ferrari F1 car too.

You will find everything in the book: there will be (a part of) the Ferrari history from 1964 to 1989

I think it will be a very pleasant and interesting reading for every Ferrari enthusiast.

that will be VERY expensive... :D

I don't know when it will be ready, maybe for Christmas. A big problem is how to publish some exclusive factory documents (that are no more factory property) about the 208 turbo development process that probably still have the factory copyright. I don't want to have problems with Ferrari, so It won't be an easy to solve. Maybe there will be some delay just for that

Well, maybe it will reduce the cost if I come to your place to buy th book and have it signed...
And yes, be careful with the copyright and legal problems, the factory is not joking about these...

Yes, it could be a pleasant way to solve the "problem". Thank you very much for the tip: I know that the Ferrari is very severe with the Copyright. I think I will just talk about them and no more, as I can have an interview with the man who wrote them, the factory project leader (that lives very close to me) and write everything as the result of an interview.

Does it work, in your opinion?

As soon as he is not bound by a confidentiality agreement, which I doubt very much, and that you take the precaution to quote him clearly, and that he is in agreement with this, yes, it should work without trouble.

Thanks, Bruno. There will be a very big chapter about the 208 turbo and another almost as big about the "328" turbo (GTB/GTS turbo). But there will be chapters also about the V6 and two liters NA V8 cars, Villeneuve, 126 CK, 126C2, turbochargers history and the other turbocharged cars of the era, Enzo Ferrari, 288 GTO, F40. All first hand personal remembering that I lived and saw in person or I was told directly by Enzo Ferrari, Mauro Forghieri, Ferrari and KKK engineers and technicians.

I will publish here the book Index

I would like to know too: I was told that some (very few) were sold in Portugal and Greece, but I never had any evidence of that.

I still think they were all sold in Italy.

Not at all, Alberto: there were MANY "Turbos" sold new in Portugal. Proof by the owners is that there are a few Portuguese owners of "208 Turbos" and "Turbo Intercooler" on this forum: they are speaking about the sales in this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/detailing-showroom/265547-208-only-italian-models.html

I have yet to find a greek owner of a Turbos sold new in Greece.
