Hi All, Living in Ohio we need to have front plates on our cars. I really don't like the looks of them, but I don't want to give the police any reason to pull me over.. Anyway, I made a couple of brackets to hold the plate that fit over the grill of my 328. Here's some pics... While I had the set-up in the milling machine, I made a few extras as well.. I have three extra sets made up, and if anyone needs one I figure they're worth $100.00/set, and I'll pay for the shipping...
I don't know if they'll fit a 308, (are the grills the same?) or any other Ferrari, as I only have the 328 to test them on..
They are "padded" with cork to protect the finish of the grills, and there is also a piece of rubber to protect the front of the grill as well...
    Thanks; John

careful the head wind on the plate doesn't bend your grill fins.

I use this on the 355 developed by one of our own :)
It has the advantage of being removable.

Yeah, I was concerned about that, but If I straddle one of the vertical slats, it's pretty secure...

One of the (few) nice things about the law in Minnesota: If you have collector plates, you can get away with just one on the back. No such luck in Ohio?

Nope, They're called "Historical" plates here, and you still need two....

You need two plates in MD as well though I don't know anybody that actually mounts the front one on a Ferrari. I carry the plate in the car but have never mounted it and no one has paid any attention in the 4 years I have owned the car. I have a friend who's a state cop and his reaction was that he couldn't imagine actually stopping someone for that though he WOULD write it up if he stopped them for some "real" violation. Obviously it's an individual thing and different states are undoubtedly different in their level of concern re this.

If I had to put it on I'd just wire-tie it in place. I've seen that done a few times and it works fine without the need to mess around with brackets.

Back in '04, FoW made a front plate bracket for my 328.
It's not a "no hole" unit, as it bolts to the front air dam.
But it doesn't block airflow through the grill.

... And it makes a handy curb feeler, as it sits lower than the air dam.
It's now bent about 40 degrees off vertical, from all the speed tables around here.

(Ironically, if I take the speed table at 20-25 MPH, tweaking the weight transfer with the throttle, the car sails right over without a problem. But when I'm stuck behind a big SUV that crawls over at walking speed, the 328 drags the front plate, when the rear tires are on the table (with no suspension compression).)

Nice looking bracket. I use the chairpilotproducts bracket now as it has a quick release for shows. Hate that second plate though. First time I ever heard of 'speed bumps' refered too as speed tables. A coworker from the islands says down there they call them sleeping policeman as in the sleeping policeman slowed me down!
