As spare parts are very very difficult to find, I finally found a protection for my front lights. Bought this on Ebay last friday. Will keep you post on how it works. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STONGARD-FOR-1986-1987-1988-1989-1990-FERRARI-328_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35a372c2d6QQitemZ230375473878QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Eugenio, If you haven't covered your lights yet do it now! I went with a different brand (can't remember the name now) but you can buy it in different thicknesses and even different colors like smoked, yellow etc. It comes in sheets so you have to cut it yourself but it's no big deal. Generally, the flatter the surface the thicker you want to go. You may have trouble fitting the thick stuff to a more curved lamp like the 355 fog lamps. No point in waiting to see how/if it works for someone else. What will they be able to tell you and when? Someone can tell you that it has been 2 years and their lamps are unbroken just the same as someone without the covering could tell you they haven't had a broken lamp in two years. It's cheap insurance that MAY make a difference. It's really going to be down to the weight, angle and speed of an object if it hits your fog/flasher light.
I know it is tsrange, but I could only find blue colored film in the 3 or 4 shops I checked near my hometown. It seems they only sell the xenon-effect ones. When I will be back from India, I check different places. Ciao Eugenio
I just bought the SAME thing for my 328....I got mine Thrus. . THey are cut perfect to match the lenses and thick enought to shoot it with a BB gun, but you can't really notice them unless you look for them . I used masking tape to line up the top, then hinged it back to peel off the back, start pressing down in the center first.....Real Easy....Also turn on your fog lights to warm up the lenses, makes it stick better.
thick-ish, soft-ish plastic. MAY prevent damage. DEFINITELY better than no protection. At a minimum it will prevent minor nicking/pitting from the usual road debris that can get kicked up.
I bought a couple pieces of the lamin-x 40mil film directly from them (6x12 pieces). Website: http://www.lamin-x.com/ I also found a template in an earlier posting on FChat. Forget who the OP was from. Helped a lot though. David Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've bought the same thing for my 328 and installed it about a month ago. Easy to install and you can only spot it if looking very close to the lamp. After searching for a replacement for over a year and a half, you can not be too carefull ...
I went to a clear bra shop and had them install the clear bra film on my 328 about 2 yrs ago. No problems, they even mentioned if it peeled they would re-do. I recommend.
Bought the laminx, looks like a nice thick film, never put it on yet though, but the template will make this simple Thanks for that Drsmith.
You can buy the film 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film online at Hillas Packaging http://3m.hillas.com/c-3086460-3m-body-coatings.aspx if you are doing the foglights, you can get a 4" by 7 foot strip for about $35. It is exactly the same stuff the car covering companies use. It's hard to buy wider than a 6" roll without being a 3M dealer/wholesaler.
If it's nicely pre-cut, this is a very fair price. For $25, even if it peels after a while, it's worth re-doing. I bought the Griot's film a while ago and found it hard to cut properly.
