I love 328 GTB's and while most publications say they should be worth less I have heard some folks on this sight say that they are worth more. I dont consider myself a mega purist but I do like the fact that GTBS are more rigid and the lines are much more beautiful. Are 328's selling for more money than a similar GTS? If any one has some insight through ownership or known comfirmed sales I would enjoy reading about it.

I've been 328 shopping and only ran across one that I saw and another that was advertised. The one I looked at was a very nice 88 1/2 with 10,000 miles but needed a full service. the seller came down from 55,000 asking to 52,500 and told me recently that he sold the car. I don't know if he got his full asking price.

My guess, and this is unscientific, is that these cars may be a little slower to sell but when you get the right seller and buyer, the price is probably about the same as the GTS..and as always, dependent more on condition than anything else.

BTW...I have seen one GTS with the targa top painted the same color as the car. It looked pretty good, but I thought it was still obvious that it wasn't a GTB.

I know of a silver 89 GTB that recently sold for $42K

I have not seen a premium for GTBs per se, but those who want GTBs tend to have fewer options than GTS buyers, and so individual sales prices tend to show more variation than GTS sales

The B's lines are cleaner, IMO.

Tillman is correct, in that it is a different type of Fcar buyer seeking the Bs.
Quantities MADE were lower, so as for rarity driving price, a clean 'no stories' B owner can hold his price 'till the buyer comes along......

Even if you paint the S roof to match, the lip at the front edge remains to distract the eye........

That '89 was a nice looking car an a STEAL at that price IMO.

I did not even see that car advertised in the market. Was it a 'friend of a friend' type deal?

    The silver/black is way cool.......

Actually, it was for sale at FoD for quite some time -- but apparently they didn't tell anyone about it. Shame, that, as when I was shopping that was precisely the type of car I was looking for. I had Rick's silver 308 GTB as my desktop wallpaper for years.

I believe the eventual sale did turn out to be friend-of-a-friend. The new owner is on the board and can expand on this. The sale may not be representative, but it is a data point.

    Grand Touring Berlinetta = GTB

Grand Touring Spyder (or Spider) = GTS

Bs are hardtops, the S has a lift out roof panel, that stows behind the seats...... ;)

I have been keeping track of GTB prices for a number of years and I can't see any difference from GTS prices. I do believe GTB's are easier to sell based on how many unsolicited inquiries I have had to sell mine. The published prices are off, especially FML which has GTB's at about 9K less than GTS's. As far as I know, 42K is the least I have ever seen an 89 sell for. BTW, I spent 18 months looking for mine.

Ferrari of Houston had a GTB last week when I popped in. I think it was an 88.

I purchased the 1989 GTB silver/black. 2 owner car. Had to have one. Really wanted a coupe as they are far more rigid and the lines flow beautifully. 38k miles. Inspected before purchase. 30k mile service was already performed. PO had brand new clutch and new air conditioning system installed prior to my purchase. In excellent condition, mechanically, exterior and interior. Simply having tubi exhaust installed and front bumper repainted to eliminate 15 years of paint chips.

This gem sat at FoD for a while and they made no attempt to sell the GTB. Lucky me!!!!!!!!!!!! Introduced to the PO at a FCA Saturday morning coffee get together in Austin by Dave. THANK YOU Maranelloman!!!!!!!! The PO is a great guy. All repairs requested by me prior to purchase were made by FoSA. Negotiations were quick, painless and reasonable. Picking up the car from LoD this week end.

When I was looking for 328 GTB in 2003 (eventually I ended up buying GTS), there wasn't much difference in price. It's really hard to say, because there's not much similar (year, color combo, mileage, service record, etc.) situated GTS & GTB.

In some countries, GTB is more popular & command more price. I think it's due to less number of GTB made.
