All US I have about double the number of unconfirmed of which I believe about half are US cars. I have about 60% of all 328 vins and about 50% of all GTB vins. More of my info came from Europe than the US. I believe we will find that there are far more US GTB's than previously thought. Out of 1344 I believe about 300 are US. R/C is Rosso Corsa I do not use any but the Ferrari name for a color when I know what it is.
What model year is shown on the emission label in the engine compartment? That is the real model year. Mant titles show wrong year. My records show that to be an 87 model. Good looking car. Not very many Black Black cars.
I see my car is already on the list as an 87, but It has been titled and registered as an 86. Someone may have made a mistake along the line...... Does it really matter?
No. Lots of cars get titled for the wrong year. As I said, for a US car the model year is dictated by what was claimed by the manufacturer and that is shown on the emission label. It is also shown on the VIN but it is easier just to look at the label. If the 10th digit in the VIN is a G, it is an 86. If that digit is an H, it is an 87.
Rifle driver. Attached is a image of the emissions sticker in the engine compartment indicating MY1986. I presume that this is model year. Cars do get built out of order for reasons that we can only guess about. Your plate shows a G in the VIN so it is an 86. I just changed my records. Part of the reason I am posting the info, so we can sort that kind of thing out. I have 66317 as an H VIN being and 87 and 66295 with a G VIN being an 86, both built in July and yours, 66711 built in September being an 86 so it is obvious VIN numbers and production dates are not always a good indicator of model year. I can add 61899 sold new in TX and given a salvage title in NY 4/14/93. With all due respect to Brian, I don't think anywhere near 300 were sold in the US. 150 is more like it. We have more than 100 here and so far are only covering 3 of the 4 years. I have about double this many GTB vins that I do not have market indentifiers for and many of those there is circumstantial evidence that they are US cars. My total list still only accounts for half of the GTB's made. I would be surprised if I could account for 80% of US cars out of 50% of the VINs when my single biggest source of info was European based but it is possible. These works are never finished. There will never be an exact answer but the best that can be done is to make some educated guesses and extrapolations from what is known. I'll finish putting up the info I have and we'll get corrections and additional information here and then people can apply whatever meaning to it that they want.
I am finding several even number cars that I believed are confirmed numbers. For example, V.W. Porto's car which is 76518. Also, Ferrari of Denver sold 77262 new in 1988. -F
BTW. I just posted this in a format that was easy for me. You started this. If you want to change anything, help yourself. It won't bother me. Many even # after 75000 which was a Euro TR btw.

To further clarify, they used odd #s on road cars and even #s on race cars up to 74999. After that they used both for raod cars. The exception is the Dino series (206,246,308 GT4) which had its own series of even numbers. Dave
I have about 125 with complete VIN# so I know they are NA. Quite a few of yours are not on my list but they are ones I haven't spotted for sale either so I suspect they may not be US cars. It has often been quoted that about 40 89s were brought in, the reasoning being that each NA dealer had to take one. I asked Steve Ahlgrim about this since he was a dealer at the time and he thought it was plausible. I also know some were exported and that may be why I'm stuck at 32-33 89s. Dave
Just asking,what is the purpose of this registry for the 328gtb if you are excluding the euro version?If you are going to do this you should include the euro designation with the vin # and ext/int colour.I bet since 1986 a few of them have crossed the pond to the US/Canada.If a registry is going to be established do it to include all 328gtb models since total production is only about 1344 .
The purpose of this registry is to locate and track all US 328 GTB. By keeping the list to US GTB, that goal becomes possible. Adding non US models to the list makes that goal rather difficult. Of course anyone else is free and welcome to create a separate Euro or even worldwide or the very exclusive non-US imported into North America 328 GTB registry. -F
+1 Just one question. How is the register kept up to date? Do you included that too? What i mean is for instance, when a car is totalled. do You keep track? How do you know the cars on the list are actually still around? We do discuss on occasion the question of how many there are left. It would be nice if the register could answer that too. ( just thinking out loud)
Steven, Thanks for bringing that up. The reason I have posted the registry here is to allow everyone to contribute, as Rifledriver has done. Anyone is welcome to add notes or updates, especially if a car is known to be destroyed or simply salvaged. This is kind of a Wiki registry so it does not rely on one editor, which was the problem with the original 328 GTB registry. That said, at this point I am focusing more on the early days of each car's life rather than the current state. I don't care what a car's current mileage is. I am trying to build a history for every car I can and I'm starting at the beginning, even though the more recent information is easier to locate. I just ask that non-US cars are not added. So feel free to add information. I may edit it to fit the format and may even dispute some information, as Dave has regarding the validity of some of the serial numbers. But I welcome all comers. -F
