An update. I have put off updating the '89 model year, partly because I know hardtop has records for many from that year. Heck, he's owned like 14 different ones. Thanks to everyone who has provided information. I will work on an update in the near future.

79392 was originally sold by "Big Red's Sportscars" in OK. I assume they lost their franchise in the big reorganization of the early 90s. The build was 11/88 and in service 2/89.

This thread brought a long-time lurker finally out of his lair...

Sorry for this first post only adding a mistery, and not an answer, to your list of US GTB. Being french, and writing from France, I shall remain silent about my own GTB (April 1989 car) as it is a non-US car, and hope that having committed the sin to have added a GTS (February 1989) to keep company to the "Berlinetta" does not disqualify me for speking to GTB enthusiasts...

To the fact: at least one US GTB is here in France. About a month ago, there was an add on the Net for a gray US GTB, advertised as being a 1987, and having about 90.000 kms on the odo (which converts to about 60.000 miles). I noticed the add immediately, as we see some former US GTS here in Europe from time to time, but I never ever did saw an ex-US GTB until this ad, which is not available anymore (perhaps the car has been sold). I used the word "gray" and not the factory "grigio", because I am not sure that the color was a factory color, the car may well have been repainted. The color didn't look standard to me, but perhaps it was the pictures. It seems that the car was imported recently, as the add said that some formality was still left to be done to have the car fully compliant with the french road legislation. Price was under the average market. Sorry for not being able to give you the serial number/VIN, but as you are probably aware, most owners are ery secretive about this here, so the add was not mentioning it.

The ad says that this "Berlinetta" is a June 1989 car (which should put it most probably in the 82XXX c/n range) and imported in Europe in 1993.
Such imports will makes the "B" even rarer in the U.S...
Question: which one is it?

Thank you for the information. So it appears you have seen two US 328 GTB for sale in Europe, a gray 87 and this red 89. I tried to download images of the '89 but the website makes it impossible, a screen grab is necessary.

Maybe we could find the serial number to this '89. FChat user hardtop should be able to help narrow down a few as he is a fan of the '89 vintage.

The mileage could help narrow things down. This car has 33,500 miles.

Should I have seen the cars "in the flesh" and not on ads, I would have done my best to look for the c/n (on the driving wheel column, but very often tatooed on the windows also). But I suppose that asking for the c/n (or VIN) is a lost cause, owners or garages are very secretive about this in Europe.
This would have been great for keeping your register up-to-date. I like to help people who keep registers when I can; kind of "pay-back" for all the information there is on this forum.

Funny thing...here we have two US GTB in Europe in two months, and these cars are very, very rare over here. This red one (june 1989 car) is in Germany; the grey one (advised as a 1987) was in the south-west of France, the ad has been closed in january and did not come back. Perhaps the car has been sold, as its asking price was well under the average of the market.
(average asking price for a GTB in France these days would go from 37.000 euros to 49.000 euros for a pristine car; there is an ad on the net for a french 89 with 18.000 kms on the odo - about 11.000 miles - in the standard "continental european" color combination Rosso Corsa / Black leather / Red rugs for 48.900 euros; but it's advised for more than a year)
As I said in my first message, we see US GTS in Europe imported and registered from time to time, either here in France or in other countries in Europe; an US GTS in Europe is nothing unusual, there is a black one for sale right now in Paris.
But TWO US GTBs in a few weeks? Wow.

Don't know if this is of some interest to someone, but should it be the case...

According to Dirk-Michael Conradt's book "Autos, die Geschichte machten", Ferrari 308 und 328 (Motorbuch Verlag, 1990) (yes, it is in german...) the production figures were:

328 GTB:
1985: 53 / 1986: 373 / 1987: 335 / 1988: 334 / 1989: 289 Total: 1344

let's not forget the Spiders...

328 GTS:
1985: 550 / 1986: 1467 / 1987: 1414 / 1988: 1548 / 1989: 1089 Total: 6068

Considering that the production of the "bulged wheels" car began at about end april 1988 (?), that should give more or less 470 Berlinettas and 2120 Spiders with bulged wheels.

The book also has the production numbers year by year for all 308 versions, including the "Turbos"

I saw that you listed 61327 as having a brown dash. So if that matters, I've seen 82906 and it also has a brown dash. You can just barely see the dash in this photo I took back in 2006.

I'm the second owner of 78166...she answers to the name "Angelina". She's Rosso Corsa with a BLACK interior. Originally sold by Hollywood Sportscars in 1988, I purchased her (sight unseen!) from Motorcars International (Springfield, Missouri) in 1993. She's bone-stock with 14,000 miles, all matching numbers, books, tools, keys, window sticker, etc. etc. Equipped with convex wheels but no ABS. Still on original clutch, exhaust, shocks, rotors, rugs, etc. Engine/trans never out of car, but she's had several timing belt changes over the years. She's been tracked at Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and Bridgehampton. Mostly original paint with some stone-chip touch-ups over the years. Driven every weekend, weather permitting. Platium winner at FCA Nationals in 1996 and still looking the part.

A small update to the color information on *73367. Last I could find it was being offered by Timothy Plante but that was about two years ago. BTW, *82906, the last 328 GTB imported to the US, the Verde 328, is being offered for sale in Hemmings.

There aren't too many pre-88.5 out there with under 30,000 miles. Get them while you can. Most of the '89 models still have low miles.

I still need to get info on the '89 models.

A slight update to your list: see my post in January "to the US GTB specialists, a small mystery" which, today, sits on page 8:

You miss 77028, an US-market 328 GTB, Rosso Corsa over Beige leather (large side-markers, flag mirrors, longer front bumper and catalysed, and advised indeed as an US-market car) which was for sale in Germany at the beginning of January, and probably still is for sale; advertised as "imported from the US in Europe twenty years ago".

You have 69459, but not its colors: it is Grigio over Black leather; it was, and still is, for sale in France with 100.000 miles on the odometer, and looks rather the worse for wear. Beginning advertised price was 35.000 euros (20 to 25% less than an average french car here) and is now advised for 30.000 euros; still no takers...

Updated, thanks nerofer. If there is a picture of the VIN plate in the door jam or any information about the original dealer, let me know.

If anyone has any information to add please let me know, even if you have told me in the past. It's easy to miss some of the details.

great to see this GTB registry thread regularly updated unlike the main 328 registry thread which was the inspiration for my new 328 registry site at Ferrari 328 Registry - Ferrari 328 Car Registration.

Furmano,

I know this has been said time and again, but VINS or Chassis number are very hard to obtain here in Europe, owners protects them tigthly. You can always ask, of course, but you never know if you will get an answer (usually you will not, so you have to know somebody in the vicinity who can actually go see the car, and take note...)

Both cars are still for sale today:

- this is 77028 in Germany. On picture n° 11, the VIN plate appears on the bottom right hand corner, but unfortunately is impossible to decipher:

The add still state specifically (in german) that the car was imported in Europe 20 years ago.

- this is 69459, still for sale in France today; the add only says: "past history unknown"...

OK all you owners or past owners of '89 328 GTB, speak up and help me fill in the info for the '89's, which is pretty lacking. Hardtop, I know you have owned like fifteen '89 GTB's. Let me know if you kept any info about the cars you owned.

Also, if you know about any 328 GTB for sale, let me know and I'll see if there is information that I can extract to fill in the blanks.

Mine that I sold last year was s/n 77068, was nero/nero and in fact was built in April 1988. It had originally come from a dealership in Dearborn, MI called The Sports Car Exchange, although I don't think it was in the midwest for very long at all. It lived for 7 years in Newport Beach, 7 years in Sacramento, and 7 years with me.

Well I must say I'm very glad to see all the work that has gone into the U.S. GTB registry & my hats off to furmano, hardtop, rifle driver, nerofer & everyone who contributed to this. Outstanding !
I still have my 88 1/2 s/n-77394 R/T (www.mulhollandferrari.com) & I'm now looking for an 88 1/2 or 89 GTB in red / black to buy.
I appreciate the posts I recieved from nerofer yesterday.
If anyone out there knows of any U.S. red / black GTB's for sale that are 88 1/2's to 89, please let me know ?

Larry, thank you for the praise. I have to admit, when I saw your post I wasn't sure if you were going to be offended or happy. My intent with this was to take what you did and build off it and make it in a format that people could update themselves, though at this point, I'm making most of the updates.

As you can see on the first page I honor you and your work. BTW, from what dealer was your car originally sold?

At some point I need to get around to updating the info on the '89's.

Lastly, it seems like the 89's are the last of the low mileage (under 10,000 miles) 328 GTB's.
