I need some help here from the GTB brethren. I've pinpointed my leaking passenger side back window problem to the louvers. If you can see it in my poor photos, there is a gap under the louvers. Water is getting in here and leaking onto the rear shelf fabric. I thought it was the window seal, but it's not. I've pinpointed it to this gap. Does everyone else have this gap on their car? If I look at the parts diagram it seems like the rubber seal should go all the way around the louver, but mine stops at the base. Any help or photos would be appreciated.

i have only just finished replacing my hood lining i had to remove the side windows to drill out the rivets holding in the lining ...... the only way to stop your leak is to remove the window and reseal it there's a channel under where the glass sits sounds like thats your prob ...... there are 3-4 pot rivets located in the piller holding it in once you have drill rivets all that's left to do is to gentle push the window and at the same time begin cutting away the sealer good luck

I have the same problem with my GTB, haven't had time or clear head to tackle the problem yet. Right now I wash the car carefully and try to avoid rain...

Nope. I can squirt water into the gap under the louvers and it will leak on the fabric shelf. It's not the seal around the window. I can soak the window all day and it won't leak, but if I get the slightest amount of water in the gap under the louvers it will leak immediately.

    Richard,

On my car, I can run my fingernail between the bottom edge of the louver piece and the black metal trim piece, so the two aren't sealed together there. I think the louver piece has sealing behind it. But I don't have the separation that I see in your photos.

I haven't performed this test but it would appear if I squirt water between the black metal trim and the louver, water would go between them but be stopped by the sealing behind it.

I too have a leak at my rear window and haven't been able to locate the exact point of entry.

We need Hardtop to chime in. He's got a practically brand new 328 GTB. I wonder what his looks like in that area.

OK gang. I don't see how this could be the source of the leak since there is no glass behind the louvers and they are located behind the glass and the fabric, not over it. Second the louvers are not solid and water just goes through them anyway. There should be a drain in the void behind it for the water on the passenger side just like the one next to the gas cap. There would be no need to seal the louver.

*sigh* It's never easy with these cars is it? Every job turns into a major effort. My car is in pieces right now to replace the AC hose that runs to the condenser. What a pain that was.

So the glass and seal (and?) are coming out. Time to buy a rivet gun. To hell with it....I say ground up restoration!

By the way, if your rear deck fabric has water stains (like mine did), and you're not ready to tackle the job of removal and resealing (like me), Zymol's Fabric Cleaner will remove them without discoloring or damaging the fabric.
