I went by prestige and saw a 328 gts (red, tan interior). The car has 45k on it and the salesman said it has all services completed. The asking price is 49k. Does anyone know this car? I love the way the 328 looks and after sitting in it I guess its not as uncomfortable as I remembered. I know the 348 is a lot more modern, roomier, has a real AC, and is also attractive but the cost of maintenance is scary. I like the fact that the 328 is ultra reliable and a lot less money to maintain. In any case I am not ready to buy and I am going crazy thinking about the day....there is only so much Ferrari stuff I can read. I find that I have read some articles a dozen times. I could go nuts and exercise a credit line on my house but I must be patient! Your thoughts will be appreciated.

IMO you should NOT buy anything from Prestige! They reputation is somewhat jaded. Try shelton Ferrari in Fort Lauderdale.

One of those links is for an '89 with 400 freaking miles on it.

    Asking 79K for it!

Like I said I am still not ready to buy. My visit to Prestige was mostly research. I did not even ask for a test drive but I did get inside to try out the driving position on my large frame. At this point my biggest problem with the 328 is its inadequate ac system. Living in South Florida we need a descent cooling system. I would hate to take this car out a on a date and be covered in sweat. I like 348s mainly because they are newer and more civilized but i am far from rich and from what i hear 328s are a lot easier to maintain. The 328 at prestige was a nice car but it was a bit overprized. I think its possible to find a similar car for around 40-45k. I wonder if its possible to drive and service a 328 for 3 years (10-15k miles) and turn around and sell it without loosing more than $10-15k (including service). I know that if something goes wrong this scenario can be out the window in a hurry. Notice how I am trying to make an irrational purchase seem rational! I guess I am hooked.

Check the archives for Prestige information. I had very bad experience with them. Besides that they don't know squad about there cars... the asking price is high, even if the car is very nice.

As for your assessment on the 348 vs 328 you are a little off.

A 348 will cost you about $ 1500 more every 15,000 Miles. Sicne you live in Miami a well working AC is essential.

As far as car goes the 348 is FAR superior to the 328. Did I say FAR? I meant: FFFAAARRR.

Martin, I like the 348 and I dont question your expirience with these cars but when I read and hear about things going wrong its really scary. Currently all work on my cars are carried out at my cousins shop here in Miami (I pay for parts only). He is not an F-car mechanic but the shop had 2 TRs that regularly came in for service. I know he will be able to work on 328s easily but arent 348's more of a pain in the butt to service and fix? In the end I still dont know if I could live with the wimpy AC and cramped interior. I guess there isnt a perfect starter Ferrari.
