I have a 328 GTS and I have noticed that when my fuel gauge reads low and I fill it up it only fills to nine gallons. The gauge shows full but I know that it has two nine gallon tanks.
Can anyone tell me why the car would only have one tank working and why the fuel gauge acts like it has one tank.

    Thanks

Typical fuel gauge sender problem...With the tank cross-over pipe design, both tank always have equal amounts of fuel and (naturally, fill together)

One F-Chatter "pulled" the passenger side tank from his car.

Of course that does NOT affect the sender or gauge.

Have you tried tapping the gauge when it is reading low? Doing this always seems to give me a few extra "free" gallons of gas.

By this, do you mean that the needle is towards the low end of the scale or that the red warning light actually comes "on"? Assuming that you still have both of the stock tanks installed ;), it should only take 14 gallons when the red light comes "on". Might be a little nerve-racking to go 'til the red light comes "on" if you've never seen it work before, but the way that they translated the spec in the OM is a little confusing. The total capacity is 18 gallons of which 4 gallons is considered the reserve -- it is not 18 gallons plus a 4 gallon reserve (i.e., it's not 22 gallons total).
