My 1988 328 had a custom rear shelf with speakers which I removed and found an original shelf BUT it is for a tan interior. does anyone know where to get the black fabric to recover it? this is my first post so there may be some mistakes in posting and getting back to you.
    thanks

In 2016, I purchased yardage of the original Black Stripe Ermenegildo Zegna fabric from <[email protected]> in Italy. I worked with Stefania, who was super helpful, and I'm delighted with the quality and correctness of the fabric.

Warning: It wasn't inexpensive: for 150 cm wide fabric I paid about 140euro/meter + tax + delivery, so about 175euro/meter, all-in.
Also, it took about 4 months to procure, since they had to schedule and produce a fresh lot of the black stripe variety.

The result was PERFECT - fabric IS the original, by Zegna, the original supplier. Couldn't be happier!

I'm glad they helped you as they did with me: the fabric is THAT and they are very kind. They have the fabric in all colors (black, red, blue and sand)

    ciao

You can also try that italiancarparts guy in Oregon. He had some of the basketweave stuff at one time. I hate to recommend him because he shafted me once but perhaps you will have better luck.

FYI, ZOOOOMZ was bicycling early Tuesday morning and a driver hit him by making a left turn as he passed through an intersection heading in the opposite direction. His body crushed the windshield and caved in the roof of the car, and he was flipped high in the air only to land on his back behind the car that hit him. His titanium bicycle frame was wrapped around his thigh... and amazingly he survived.

He had a collapsed lung, six broken ribs and three broken vertebrae, plus numerous smaller problems. The hospital was able to get him up and walking today, and he may be able to go home in a couple of days. I don't think he will be turning a wrench or doing any interior repairs in the near future, though.

Well...what a pity. Thanks for the news, Mark; sad to read indeed for Tim. Bicycling can be very dangerous indeed. Hoping the best for him and recovery.

Small update: Tim (ZOOOOMZ) is back home and on the mend. He is working to dial-in the right dosage on pain meds, but is miraculously able to move around the house on his own. He wears a special brace that limits spinal movement while his vertebrae heal, but that is the only outwardly visible sign of his trauma. All the comments and kind thoughts have been seen and are very much appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and well-wishes - that's certainly what is helping keep my recovery moving in a positive direction!

As Mark said, I'm able to move about a bit. I can spend about 30 minutes at the computer at a time now, so I'm slowly working to respond to the outpouring of support from everyone around me, as I've been discharged from the Trauma Center exactly one week ago, almost to this hour.

No prognosis yet, but I'm personally hoping I can drive again by March, to participate in our Hill Country Chapter Spring driving event. I'll know more after follow-ups this week with the neuro-, and ortho-specialists who treated me in the ER and hospital. My only real wish for Christmas is to have Santa leave a voucher for as full a recovery as possible.

Thanks again to everyone here for your support!

Great news to hear you are doing better Zoooomz.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New year.
I did get the fabric from Interni Auto Maieli SNC .75 linear meter for 150 euros. Yes pricy but the interior is now 100%
