my '87 328GTS top is squeaking and rattling. is there an adjustment on the two latches? i have tried using armor all, and now silicone spray. the silicone seemed to help quite a bit, but its still noisy. i remember from the BMW board (!! yeah i know) that powder, like talcum helped window seals noise. i'm sure i'm not the first to have squeaking from a GTS top, what cures have you guys found?

    thank,

    bob wass

If it is seal squeaking or even the 2 pins in the rear.

I have used in the past, Gummy-Fledge, used on BMW's.

    Good Luck

if all of the pins and the locks are in good condition, you may need a new weather strip seal. i replaced mine and the top is now extremely tight. no squeak or air noise.

There are shims under the over centre catches that you can add to or remove to fix things up a bit.

Make sure the plastic on the pins is in good condition, and no metal contact.

Silicone spray and good adjustment fixes it generally.

I would agree with Ferrari ixer. I was able to get rid of the squeeks in my previous 308 and current 328 by replacing the worn plastic (actually early style were rubber) pins with new, and spraying all the rubber seals with silicone. Reapply once every six months.

Where do you guys get replacement pins from? I wouldn't mind upgrading.

What you do is speak softly, say nice things to the computer, gently stroke the mouse a few times... ;-)

Actually there is indeed a search tool. i start by loggin on to www.owners.ferrari.com, then see on bottom left the SPARE PARTS tab and go from there.

    >>>thanks for the help<<<

ALWAYS glad to be of service, but i have news for you dudes. i needed these pins too after looking at the 308 here and scored the LAST in stock pair from the US website guy. Naturally Ferrari UK should have all you need :)

I bought the pins from my local FNA dealer late 2002 for about $10 or $11 each...you might want to check there first, and save on shipping, unless you have other stuff you need to buy as well.

a seven dollar tube of gummiphlege from the bmw dealer did it
(part# 82-14-9-407-015 rubbercaretube) applied it with the foam applicator first, and graduated to just using my fingers.
(need a new license plate frame: my other car is a gummiphlege ;-))
the stuff is great, and the car is solid and quiet now.
the main squaking was coming from the area where the rubber
seal on the top makes a 'scoop' to fit around the rubber on the top
back part of the door sill on the drivers side.
