When I drive my 328 with all of the fans off I still seem to get some heat coming from the vents under the dash. Any ideas? Is this normal? I am worried that in the Texas summer this could be a problem since the A/C is marginal in these cars.

I do not know if it is normal, but my 328 behaves exactly the same way. Only suggestion is to have your A/C ready...

Unfortunately, ALL 328's seem to do this. The heat seems to come from somewhere just to the right of the steering column, under the instrument binnacle. There are a lot of relays and cable connections there, so I have been unable to find the exact location it is coming from. It is surmised to be actually heat from the radiator leaking past the firewall from the front trunk area....not coming from the heater vents or heater boxes themselves. It is an odd thing...you can actually get quite warm from the heat. The best course of action, is to set the driver's side lower vent open, and run the fan with no heat. This will introduce enough cool outside air from below to even things out....even in winter. Works for me.

I will run heat on the driver's side initially in winter, but will switch to cool air later in my drive, to balance the "extra" heat coming from under the dash.
