All of a sudden, the other day the 328 wont start. Turns over fine but will not fire, not even a little. Any ideas? What do I look at first or should I just have her up on a flat bed asap. Thanks all.

If your mechanically inclined, start with the basics.

you need spark, fuel, air. I'm sure you've got air. Make sure you check the fuel pump fuse first (pull it & clean it)! put a timing light on the banks to see if you have spark. If you've got spark, then it's probably no fuel delivery

    Q. My 328 can sit for months and start up just fine. It can be turned off for a few minutes and start up right away. However if it is driven and then left for an hour it take quite a bit of time for the engine to start up again. Why is this? Should I be worried?

    A. The 328's and injected 308's are hardest to start when they are slightly warm. We have found several things to help the situation. First and least expensive is the check valve in the end of the fuel pump. It keeps the fuel pressure from bleeding back to the fuel tank when the engine is shut off. Since it is only about $20.00 we just change it if there is any doubt it may be bad. The Fuel accumulator also holds pressure on the system. It can be checked by removing the small breather hose from the opposite end that the two fuel lines are connected to. If fuel is in the breather tube the Accumulator should be changed. The fuel pump itself can also contribute to the problem. Usually when the pump is weak it becomes noisy and is probably time to replace it. Also check your ignition wires. They can be checked with an ohmmeter. Each wire should read about 1000 ohms. If you do change the ignition wires solid core wire can not be used in the type ignition system the 328 uses.

    Hope you find this helpful,

    Greg,

Sorry to hear about the 328's aversion to running. Keep us posted on your progress. If you don't get it started let me know. I need a reason to come over to see your Duc.
