Where's the buzzer located? I did a search but couldn't find any answers. It works great; I want it to quit doing so! ;)

mike996: IIRC there may be a better way to skin this cat. I think the buzzer was buried deep in the dash. But, the relay that activated it was under the passenger floorboard. IIRC and I am getting up there and the mind does play tricks. Good luck but I think I remember doing this to my 308 20 years ago.

I've owned a 328 for 4 years. What is this buzzer of which you speak?

The buzzer that sounds anytime you have the key in the ignition and the engine isn't running. It's there so you don't forget to remove the key.

Passenger footwell as Myrob said. Unplugging the connector eliminates the buzzer and the
"Brake Failure" test light which. Not sure if anything else is affected but doesn't seem to be.

Not crazy about the test light being non-functional since it warns of low brake fluid or failing boost pressure though, of course, we lived for 75 years without such warnings... :)

I suspect you could check the wiring diagram and just clip the wire that activates the buzzer but I haven't looked into that.

I am also clueless as to the exact location. The usual place for these is in/below the dash in front of the driver or on the relay/fuse panel. I would have to hook it back up to locate the thing with my sound meter.

Geez guys, how can you own a 328 and not have the Owner's Manuals and Wiring Diagrams...they are free but admittedly require minimal reading.

I won't spell out the exact location (myrob already did) but will leave that for you to discover from the manual drawing.

Cool, thank you. I remembered the location of the relay thing but have no recall of seeing that buzzer. Paul, I have paid twice for the wiring diagrams but where do I get these great diagrams of individual systems? I have a '85 308QV, is there a picture like thisfor my car?

There is a drawing in all Owner's Manual showing relays and fuses.

This thread being titled '328', I haven't mentioned specific 308 info. My 1980 was missing the buzzer when I got it, but I'm suspect it was under-dash, just above the steering shaft near the brake light switch. Another 308 mystery box is the windshield wiper intermittent timer above the glove box to the left and above the driver's knee at the emergency bonnet cable pull.

Footwell component drawings were included in OMs from the inception of US 1978 catalytic converter 'slow down' circuitry, until and including 1983 US cars.

For 1984-1985 US 308s, a trunk drawing is added to the OM but no footwell drawing. Perhaps as it simply contains the interior light timer and the unfastened seat belt 'device'.

When in doubt about location, realize Ferrari has attempted to place components on the wiring diagrams relative to their general placement in the cars.

I wish there was room on my QV wiring drawing for a relay locator which I have placed on drawings for earlier cars, maybe this winter.

the following picture is from a 308

you`re looking at the ignition switch from under the dash (backside of ignition lock cylinder)

the cable connection (yellow arrow) serve the key buzzer

if you find those cables on your 328, disconnecting them at this location might also keep your break light switch in working order ;)

I totally agree (plus the tech bulletins) and I'm quite embarrassed - you are right; it is clearly shown in the wiring diagram - somehow I went right past the picture of all the components, spending all my time looking at the actual wiring schematics. :(

Disconnecting the buzzer did NOT disable the brake failure light. I thought it did yesterday when I pulled the connector but today, when I turned on the key for the first time, the light came on, then went off as normal. I had never noticed before if the light came on every time the key was turned to "run" (engine not started) or just at the first start of the day as the accumulator pressurizes. The owner's manual says the failure light illuminates anytime the key is turned to "run" but I'm not sure my 328 has always done that.

In any case, it illuminated at the first turn to "run" but not at subsequent ones after the car had been started and they ABS system pressurized.
