Nice find. I think I had a subscription to R&T back then as I remember this article. And I concur. :)

I still have that magazine. I also liked the 1987 Road & Track issue where they compared the 328GTS, Mondial 3.2, 412, TR, and GTO.

I've had a photocopy of that article for a while. It's interesting that they're already lamenting the end of the 328 back in 1989 rather than anticipating the 348. The end of the 308/328 era for Ferrari was probably as big a deal as the end of the 993 for Porsche -- what came next was very different, and I think people realized something special had ended. The 348 definitely was "smoothed out", in contours but also a totally different cockpit, driving feel, etc.

    Thanks for posting this!

It also reminds me that I used to look forward to reading R&T each month. Finally dropped my subscription after 30 years or so.

Yes, its sort of sad what some of my former favorite car magazines have become.

Yep, I've got that one and the Exotic Cars: 4 (I think that is the number) and the original road test where they compared the 328 to the outgoing 308 QV and the Ferrari Fantasy special edition.

Man, the guys at Road & Track really loved the 328 and heaped much praise on the model. What's not to love?

In 1986 it was pretty obvious from the first car delivered to the dealer. Everyone, the jaded dealer employees included loved it from day one. It never gave us cause to reconsider.

Like I said, to date it is still a top 15 car.
