Oh absolutely! That looks beautiful! All the brackets for the throttle body are now on their way back from being re-cad-plated.
You're doing it right! I didn't even think about getting the brackets re-plated. Also, I wish I had done some cleaning up on the air/fuel metering unit at the bottom end of the air hose. Maybe next time.....
I might have been one of them. Did talk with the people from ReOriginals at Cavalino, and mentioned that I might redo my interior within the next year or two. They had a nice Daytona style seat pieces that fit the 328.
Looks very nice. Had the shop repaint mine two years ago when the major was done. Did not specify any colors, just told them to repaint it. When it was done noticed the throttle body was a darker gray than the plenum, can't remember if it was originally like that, but I like the color contrast. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got the parts back from the platers. VERY fast turn around and they did an excellent job. OK Verell, the fuel lines are waiting on your kit! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A place called Burbank plating. Once the parts arrived there they were done in 4 or 5 days. http://burbankplating.com/services.php
Just got off the phone with Matt; the interior is now finished and almost boxed up for shipment. Hopefully will go out tomorrow. Who knows, it may even reach me before the weekend. Pics to follow when it arrives. The body shop also says the car will be done this weekend. I'm not holding my breath on that one though.
Thanks for the info on the plating, one qustion how bad were your parts were they corroded? I have never send anything out for plating. just wondering. what paint did you use on for the coolant tank, I was thinking about using some stuff from eastwood but it apears that originally it was a gloss black can you guys confirm this? I need to make mine look like yours! haha its faded bad. jp
Yes, there was a lot of surface corrosion on most of the nuts, bolts and various metal pieces, especially the fuel pipes. It was something that wouldn't polish out, or if it did, it was removing the finish.
Got the deck lid back yesterday and reassembled it today. Man, I'm aching. For anyone that hasn't put one of these back together, the louvers are a ***** to get back on with those little aluminum shims lining up with the rivet holes. The wife is a saint for letting me put it all back together on the bed. Didn't make a spot of the sheets when I was done. Of course, every part has been completely refinished, so I was pretty safe! I also received the final invoice in the mail Friday from ReOriginals for the entire interior and know that it is on its way via DHL to me now. It should be here in the next few days. Can't wait to see how it turned out. Pics to follow when it gets here. On a sadder note, after I had loaded the headlight assemblies into the truck, a cat at the body shop jumped in the truck and knocked one headlight into the other, gouging the paint down to the metal. Hes having to rework that unit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nah, the cats aren't that good at painting, but if you spin them fast enough they will polish out a paint job real nice!
hum never used them on paint always on my wood floors cats work wonders at polishing them! Ill have to try it on the paint
The interior is back! All I can say is that ReOriginals does amazing work. I was trying to post a bunch of pics of all the pieces, but the battery died on the camera! The only thing I can see sending back are the door panels, and that is only because they messed up and reinstalled the old red indicator lights on the top of each panel from some aftermarket alarm system that a prior owner had installed. They're going to have to repair/replace that section of the panel. But otherwise, it is the best interior work I have ever seen. Battery is charging now for the rest of the pics and some close-ups.
