Just wanted to share with you that my 328 has come back to life this afternoon! What an overwhelming feeling of achievement !.... Remember this is my first Ferrari, bought last November and at the beginning of January I've started the work. Here's what I've done: - new timing belts and tensioners - new water pump, alternator and A/C belts - all new hoses (silicone for coolant) - removed valve covers and checked cam timing - checked valve clearances - replaced all cam o-rings and sealants - same for the distributor side - cleaned distributor and rotors - replaced non-return valve, fuel accumulator and filter - replaced all injectors - new thermo time switch - removed alternator, replaced bearings and new pulley - cleaned everything up and made it look better, like painting the air filter and white "Ferrari" on top - fixed the battery mount - fixed the interference between water hose coming out of pump and bottom of air box - fixed the problem with the warm up regulator (bad connections) The engine now works like a clock, and starts easily after warm. which it didn't before The car is still on stands but I WILL go for a ride after the GP, hopefully to celebrate a victory! I might be listening to Pink Floyd "Coming back to life". On second thought, I prefer the engine Forza Ferrari !!!! Rui - very tired, 2 hour to the GP, 5 hours to drive MY Ferrari after almost 3 months
And I forgot to thank many here for their support and for the many references encountered at Ferrarichat tha have helped a lot ! Thanks, guys ! Rui
Congrats on completing such a big project, now enjoy the ride. It's a great feeling driving down the road, and thinking in the back of your mind,"hey, I know how these cars work"
Yes, it's a great feeling ! went for a drive today and did about 100 Km. Wow, I love this car! The engine is so much smoother now, and the sound so much better. I've also noticed that with the new Mercedes coolant it runs a bit cooler than before. I've bled the air from the system after the first run, maybe that helps, too. The only minor problem was that I need to re tension the alternator belt, it sometimes squeals a bit when rpm goes up faster. That will be a tough job with everything in place, but it can be done. I had almost forgotten how people react when they see a Ferrari. Nice day, top off, windows down, wind in my hair and an orchestra behind me playing in full stereo Did I say I love it ? Rui - in need of some sleep after an intense day, 3 hours sleep last night and a GP in the middle
Hi Rui, Is this a late 88 or 89 car? I can see some little differences to the engine bay compared to an 86 car. But where is your oil cooler? I can't see it in your photo? cheers, Greg
It is a late 88 (November). The oil radiator is under the expansion tank. Also remember this is a euro version, no cats, no lambda, no ABS Rui
