My 328 lopes like a big block V8 when cold. Are there parts I can check before I take it into the dealership? The car also has a fluctuating idle when warm(900-1000rpm). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks JPJ

What oil brand and spec are you using?

What are the ambient temps when 'cold'?

Which oil filter (and how old) is it?

When engine is cold and after 10 seconds or so after startup, what is the oil pressure reading?

Does this symptom occur if the engine is hot and you restart the car?

The reason i ask is, when i used (too) thick 20W-50 oil on cool days the engine hated it and chuga-chuga-chuga. Thick oil is like molasses and the poor oil system had a hard time pushing it along. i dare not guess how bad using such thick oil did during startup and glad to have stopped using 20W-50 long ago.
