Does anyone know off hand what is the lug nut size for 1987 328 I want to buy a socket for it. Also did the car come with some sort of rod you thread into the hub and then put the wheel on it to help you line up the wheel when you change the tire. In order to change the tire I had the lower the jack to the exact height to line up the bolt holes. WIth a alignment rod it would be easier

An alignment rod is available from one of our site sponsors, SODACOM. It works great; makes the job so much easier.

22 mm (or 7/8" works fine).

Get a 6-point Aluminum-lined one (Snap-On, Ozat, etc.) to protect the chrome plating (search on "ozat" at the old site to get the threads with the Snap-On and Ozat links -- and other suggestions like using a plastic bag liner for protection).

If you want to go the cheap route, Harbor Freight makes a whole set of nylon-lined sockets for about $20.
For the wheel lug alignment tool, I just picked-up a threaded hex bolt, cut the head-off and put bullet nose on it. It works well--my friend said I should paint them red and sell them for $20.00 as a "Ferrari" tool!

Don't recall the thread exactly, but I think it was 14X1.25mm--maybe the same as a spark plug? Anyhow, you could always take a lug nut-off and take it to a "bolt" store to match it up.
