On my 328, when I put the light lever down one notch and press the far right console switch for the parking light mode, the inner tail lights come on but in a funny way.

The (let's see if I remember this correctly) bottom half of the left one comes on, and the upper half of the right one comes on. Is this normal? I have it in at the shop right now for this, but thought I'd ask you guys before I make my mechanic insane.

    Thanks!

You have burned out lamps, I'd guess.

The outer ring has an upper and a lower lamp, burning at the same time when on......

    Check that...

...but when I twist the end of the light stalk and turn the parking lights on that way, they seem to work properly, so I don't think any bulbs are out, but I will double check.

    Other comments?

Nope. You have a bulb holder installed up-side-down at the rear. Just pull the carpet panel off, unclip the unit and turn it over.

When you use the parking lamp switch, ONLY the lower half of the rear lamp should come on, also ONLY one of the two bulbs for the front lamps (I can't say for sure which). Also, the dash illumination WON"T come on, or the reg plate, just the green Park warning lamp.

When you turn the normal lights on, the dash lights up, and all 4 tail bulbs and all 4 front bulbs come on, and the reg plate lamps come on.

    Hope that helps.

It's the ground wire, when you fix it (Tape it as it can ground against the hot wire and blow the fuse), you'll be OK. They were not to well designed.
