    Been doing a few bits & pieces on my 328 this weekend & pulled the rear bank dizzy cap & plug wires (largely to test the wires - chasing a lumpy idle).

    Wires all tested OK for continuity & resistance (at least the readings I got were fairly evenly spaced in line with the length of the individual leads)

    Looked at the rotor arm & the 4 pegs inside the dizzy cap & all are quite pitted. Attached is a photo of the rotor arm - does this look like it needs replacing, do I leave it alone or should I try & clean the pitting up a bit?

    Edit:: Bloody hell!! I've just had a look at what new Dizzy caps & Rotor arms cost - £135 & £99 ($240 & $175) repectively - that's insane!!

    The rotor contact doesn't look too bad to me.
    I'd either just live with it, or dress it up a bit with a very fine file or 320 grit sandpaper. At most bring the high points down to the metal's original surface. Any more material removal will increase the rotor-distributor contact gap, weakening the spark & increasing the possibility of carbon tracks forming.

    Thanks for that. I was reluctant to start messing with it figuring that anything I took away would only increase the gap as you suggest.

    I took the cap of the front bank tonight & its much the same - the four posts on both caps are quite pitted as well. I'm going to take them down to QV tomorrow & get Mike to take a look at them.
