    All,
I am having some leakage from my pans. I am leaking both oil and gear oil. It looks like I also have at least two studs stripped holding the pans closed. I have a few questions:

    1. What is the nut torque on the stud nuts? I can't really discern from the 'freebie manual' I retrieved online: perhaps a better manual is in order (any recommendations?).

    2. Any advice for stud removal/replacement; I can't really tell if I would turn CCW or CW to remove (I expect CCW) or to use a pulling device. Can I remove without removing the pan altogether?

    3. Any other locations for oil/gear oil leakage experienced by others on the forum?

    Thanks All. Enjoying the adventure...

    Rob

Some say 6 ft lbs and others say 10 ft-lbs. I use SS nylok nuts and the beveled washer. As for removing the stripped studs I would use the socket type stud remover . It is CCW to remove the studs.

Removing the pan (cover, actually) makes things a whole lot easier. If you don't have or don't want to buy a stud remover, vise grips work fine once the cover is removed. Plus, if things have been loose / leaking for a while, your gasket is probably dirty / shot too --- why not replace it (it's inexpensive) while you're at it? Simply replacing the studs and snugging things up may not stop the leak if the gasket has been compromised.

Drain plugs and shift shaft seal are always likely suspects for leaks...

And, yes, CCW to remove the studs (they are right-hand threads). BTW, you're going to have to go to the Dealer, or a Ferrari parts supplier (T. Rutlands, etc.) for new studs ---- they are custom length / thread configuration. They aren't expensive though --- maybe $1 a piece, or so.

    Have fun :)

If the studs are stripped chances are whoever worked on it previously over torqued the nuts maybe trying to stop the leaks, I would replaced the damaged studs, use a thread chaser to clean up the threads on other studs, and get all new nuts.

While at it, do the shift shaft seals, they are just right there.

Good advice. Is there a thread or anythig pertaining to replacing the shifter shaft seals? It would seem that some extra dis-assembly would be required.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Yes there is some and it is totally worth it. If you have a Spare Parts Cat that will give you a pretty good idea of what additional stuff you'd have to do.

I'd also do the shifter bushings (silent blocks) as well. All 'consumables' renewed in one shot and not expensive too boot.
