Anyone have any tips on getting the oil temp sensor off my 328? It's part 18 in the diagram. Not enough room for a wrench. A deep socket runs out of room for the ratchet head.

I think you have to take the oil filter housing off the car to get that out.

Sorry, wrong sensor. That is the pressure sensor. Plus on the 308 the oil temp sensor is in a different place than on the 328.

+1 on that. I replaced the oil temp sensor on my 78 308GTS and it was super easy...it was mounted much lower and easily accessed with a wrench. My symptom was perfect running, but he oil temp read very high, for no reason. New Veglia sender and it read normally again. Less than $20 fix.

Nope. Oil temp sensors are in the same place. The oil temp sensor noted in post one is for the fuel injection system only.

And I just use an open end wrench to get it out.

Hmmm. I couldn't get the wrench on it from underneath as it's just at the perfectly wrong position for the open end to fit on it between the frame and block, and there's not room for the wrench up top under the exhaust header.

    Rookie. :D

I'll have another go with the wrench then.

    You need a shorter wrench.

A man after my own heart. More Tools!! Always can use more tools! :D

I managed to get it off last night and the new one installed. But I couldn't get the new one tight enough. I think a set of stubby wrenches is in my future today.
