I was at the track Monday and a friend took this cool picture of me that I thought I'd share. Too much body roll. I've got suspension upgrade fever now. That's my buddy's GT in the background. I think he passed me on the very next lap. Smart ass with his 650 hp.

    Looks great!

Really enjoyed taking my '85 GTS to Road America last year, these cars are so much fun to push the limits with on a closed course (rolly-polly suspension and all)

    cheers!

    Nice pics.

Remember the 328 is more of a luxury-sports car, not a hardcore track car (ditto all the street Ferraris, except obviously the Challenge cars). Enjoy it for what it is. I think you'd have to modify the crap out of it to even think about hanging with a Lotus Exige, etc.

Beautiful cars, both of them. Does the GT license plate make a comment about Enzo? I took this poor picture at dusk with a cell phone because I was amused at the license plate on the GT, plus the fact that the car was sitting next to a 328, given the Ford/Ferrari rivalry that created the GT40s in the 1960's.

The 1st pic explains why these cars aren't so good on track days even though they are lots of fun driving 7/10ths on a twisty road.

It would be better to buy a different car for track days. A stiffer suspension on the 328 would help greatly, but you may not like the overall package and the greater stresses on chassis components can lead to bad things.

Contrary to what Bullfighter says, the more modern cars are excellent track day missiles but anyone who thinks any road going car (including scuds) are like true race cars is just plain deluded.

Yep, that's us. Where is that? Publix in Madison?

Yeah, he thought he was pretty cute with that plate. What can I say, my friends are dicks. :D

They're still fun on the track even if they aren't missiles. I wouldn't do anything drastic to the suspension. More like just refresh it after 21 years. New bushings and shocks and maybe slightly stiffer springs.

I'd love to have another one (355 maybe), but working for the gubment with a stay at home mom for a wife...it just isn't in the budget.

I remember lots of body roll in road test pics when they were new.

But a refresh is a good idea, in any event. I'm sure it would tighten it up.

With QA1 shocks, 300lb springs, new tires (stock sized, all-weather), new suspension bushings and freshened steering parts my 308 felt beautifully composed at 9/10s+ through slow to medium speed turns at Road America and was perfectly comfortable for the 2 hour drive home. I have no desire to try to keep the car flatter in turns, leaning is fun :)
Most drivers of 'hardcore' cars like C6 Vettes, 360/430 Ferraris, 911s etc never push their cars nearly this close to their limits. I don't blame them, those limits are so high when something goes wrong the consequences are that much worse.

That's the place. I chuckled at the plate for days, no doubt Henry Ford II would have approved.

Nice. Looks like a fun day. Track days are a hoot, especially when it's a run-what-ya-brung day (assuming everyone first passes tech inspection, and acts reasonably on-track).

Just wondering how fast did the GT go by??

Which time? Seems like all I was doing was waving him by. It's a short twisty motorcycle track. So you can't get going too fast and can't get into too much trouble. On that back straight, he could hit close to 120 where as I'd only hit 100 if I nailed the last corner entering the straight just perfect.

He put a Ford Racing pulley and tune on his car, because the stock 550 hp just wasn't enough. Of course, I went all day and used 3/4 of a tank. He went through two full tanks of gas. He was getting about 3 mpg.
