I'll be around the area for most of the summer. Are there any other F-car owners in the region? Does anyone know of a Ferrari-qualified mechanic here? Morrie
Welcome to the mountains! I do not own a ferrari and i've only seen a handful of ferraris here in asheville and I don't know if any of the owners are registered here. I did see a 328 a couple days ago at Franks Pizza, a red one and it was really groovy. Could it have been you by chance? My dad knows most of the mechanics in town, and I asked him if there are any certified ferrari mechanics that he knows of. He said he doesn't know of any in town but he recommended Import connection and Larry's Performance. Import connection is right of I-26, across from Biltmore Park. He said that they work on pretty much everything there and that he has seen ferraris in there before. Larry's performance I believe is downtown somewhere but I am not sure. Larry works on porsche's and my dad says he thinks he's seen a ferrari in there before. Either of these shops do great work. And if you stop in any of them, tell them Joe the tool man sent ya Are you in need of a minor tune up or is there something wrong with your 328? Good luck! Brian
Hello, Welcome......the only possible place would be the winning collection out in weaverville. Besides that I'd go to charlotte or atlanta. I don't have a F-car, but I'm in the market for something like your 328 possibly as a good first ferrari. We should get the local car guys together for a dinner/drive one night. email/pm me if you are interested. On a side note my sister lives in sarasota.....small world hahaha Jeremy
We've got several owners in your area. If you're a member of FCA, you might contact me or your state rep through our website at www.fca-se.com and we'll get you in touch with some folks, including resources for getting work done on your car. Mike Charness
It's 2-1/2 hours to Greensboro where there are two very good Ferrari garages. Foreign Cars Italia is an authorized Ferrari dealer and Sport Auto has an outstanding Ferrari-trained mechanic. Better than the trip to Atlanta and you won't find anything in Charlotte as good as Greensboro. Drop me a note at [email protected] for more details, including upcoming FCA activities. Bob Snow
Bob's right greensboro is a good choice, but if you did find something in charlotte it would be 45 minutes closer. Take Mike's advice and contact the FCA-SE you may meet some people that way.
Welcome!!! Make sure you check out the Grove Park Hotel!!!! And dont forget Biltmore!!! I have never even looked into getting my car worked on in Ash. I use Sport Auto in GB. Tom is a member here and his work is Top Notch!! While at it, look at the CAFE thread below. Carolina Area Ferrari Enthusistsestessssss (sp?) is the culb I am in. We have had some top rate drives and are looking into doing on in AshVille!!!!!!
Brian, Yep, that was me. The pizza there is great BTW. The Ferrari is my daily driver, though it shares duties with a BMW motorcycle. It seems there are a lot of nice people in this area and I look forward to meeting them. I don't know of anyting that my 328 needs now, but you never know so I thought it would be handy to know a local wrench. Thanks for the tip. Morrie
Ferrari as a daily drive. That is awesome! I didn't get to see your car up close but it caught my eye as I was coming from the Biltmore side of swannanoa river road and turning onto tunnel. Looked really clean. You were gone by the time I did my shopping at Lowes. If you really like pizza, the best place in western north carolina is at Big Mikes in Brevard. Its right downtown and its definitely worth the drive out there. Looks like you're experiencing the best of both worlds with a fcar and a bike. I'm sure you already know that this is an awesome place not only to cruise in a car but riding a bike on the parkway is sure to be fun too. I believe that there is a ferrari meet held here in asheville in the summer. If i'm not mistaken, its held annually. I haven't been to it but it takes place at the grove park inn. I'm sure someone will post here about it if that event is going to happen. Again, if you have any questions about mechanics in the area just drop a line here. If I can't help you one of the other fine members here sure will be able to. Brian
Welcome to the Carolinas !! If you're an FCA member, you can see the schedule of events at www.fca-se.com. I'm in Winston-Salem -- about 90 miles east of you -- and always up for a drive. Drop me a PM anytime. Also, we're organizing an informal drive/brunch at the Bermuda Run Country Club in Clemmons this summer. We're targeting July 17th. The CAFE group in Charlotte doesn't have a website, but every fortnight they "dine and drive" somewhere in the western piedmont. If you're interested, let us know! -Daniel
Thanks to all who responded to my message of a few weeks ago. Through a bizarre series of events, I am suddenly without my 328, but I have calls out all over the country and expect to have another as soon as I find a suitable car. I'll try to contact those who responded soon. I found the 328 to be a fine daily driver and don't want to be without one for long.
Daniel, I don't like to be mysterious, but I think it's best to say only that there was what I considered a significant question about the car's history which I discovered after I bought it. I had a long and sometimes rancorous argument with the dealership until it agreed to buy the car back for my full purchase price. The car was probably just fine, but I decided to take the money and find another car that I could research thoroughly. If anyone knows of a clean, low mileage, well maintained 328, I'm in the market. Thanks,
