Hi! I've seen a 328 for sale I'm interested in but after looking at pics in more detail I noticed the Pinninfirina badge is in an odd place? Also there's a badge on both sides. Normally it's only on one side. It's a very late 1989/1990 car.
Anybody ever seen the badges in this location or is it obviously been painted and badges replaced in the wrong location?
Thanks, Graham. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I can’t tell from the pic, what is yours a left-hand drive or right hand drive usually the badge is on the same side as the driver side.

It’s RHD. I can’t see pics of any other 328 with badges as low or as far back as this one?
There’s a badge on both sides in the same position.
Maybe a Friday afternoon car ;)

Certainly lower and farther back than my badge (one on the left side of an LHD car).

This is also what I’ve read:
ALL European 308 GTB's in Vetroresina had the Pininfarina badge on the passenger's side.

Cool thanks. So consensus seems to show badge was only on drivers side which is what Alfa Romeo did with Pinninfarina and Bertone badges.
I’ll need to look at those areas in detail to see what bodywork has been done and hopefully badges are just stuck on with tape!!!

No, no, Mike: only the early production Vetroresinas had the Pininfarina badge on the passenger side, it then changed sides at about the middle of the Vetroresian production, then stayed on the driver's (= left) side.

    Graham,

    No such thing as a 1990 328: 328 production ended with chassis # 83136 (a swiss market GTS) in mid-september 1989.

No badge on the right side of any 328; the badge is always on the left side; the only variation in the badge's position was for the italian-market "Turbos", on which the NACA air scoop in front of the wheels occupoed the spot for the "Pinifarina" badge, which was then pushed behind the rear wheel, but only on "Turbos".
Perhaps (subject to further due diligence...) this one is simply an add-on by a former owner who wanted a badge on the driver's side (= right side of course for a RHD car).
Remember that the badge is held in place by two metal spikes on its back, so normally you would need to drill two additional holes in the fender's metal to put an additional badge in place (unless you cut off the spikes and glue the badge...)

    Mike,

Ferrarichat member (and old friend of mine...) "TripleBlack" pinpointed the change of side for the badge at mid- 1976: see "6.2" in the link hereunder
(mid 1976 with "1976" as a calendar year (Jan 1st to Dec 31st, NOT "MY" year...)
