    I have heard that also, but there were 40+ north american dealers at the time, more than now. I asked Steve Ahlgrim about it since he was part of FAF cars at the time and he thought that it was probably true. I think that's where the estimate for 40-42 89 GTB's comes from. We have vin's for 26 so far. My own car was originally sold by Big Red's sports cars in OK. Some were apparently shipped to Europe at the time where GTB's must have brought more money than here. I think there are 125-150 in the Us 1986-89.

    I'm pretty sure the 45 was worldwide. Somewhere I have a dealer list/brochure from Ferrari listing all dealers back then; will put it on the list to look it up and post something more definitive.

    I know there wasn't a hell of a lot of demand for the GTB then, as I got the very last '89 GTB ordered in the U.S.(note: last one ordered, not the last one produced for U.S. consumption). Almost missed it, as the dealer had turned it back to FNA to give back to the factory, as no one wanted it(!) I literally called every dealer in the U.S., trying to find one who still had an allocation, and when I came up dry, went back to this dealer and he called up Ferrari(in Cypress, CA, if memory serves; was West Coast entry point back then) to cancel his cancel, and I was in business.

    Well, found my 1989 dealer directory this morning, and here's the 'official' :) numbers on U.S. dealers, etc.:

    * 40 U.S. dealers
    * 3 Canadian
    * 1 Puerto Rico

    So, I stand corrected on the number of U.S. dealers...

    I think the estimates on 15-20 U.S. 1989 328 GTBs are based on the fact that 328 production was shutdown mid-way throughout the year as 348 production started. My best recollection(at this point) is that 328 production ended in either July or September(plant pretty much closed during August for summer vacations).
    My GTB has a door plate of May.

    There are other posts on this board dealing with this topic that might clarify things a bit more.

    jjay911, would you mind PMing me Larry's eMail address? I submitted my ownership history on the 328gtb-registry site but the entry for my GTB was never revised. Thanks.
