I'm not exactly sure but I think there is a BMW switch that fits. IIR it's from a 7 series car.
Maybe someone else on the board has the part #.

I've been looking for one for years. The BMW switch thing is a myth. I've checked with exotic car wreckers to see if they have 328 switches, I tried Ferrari UK, e-bay, but no luck to date. If you find a source, I'd love to hear about it.

Whatever you do, do not take yours apart. I did and it has about 6 or 9 roller bearings (about the size of a BB) that are an absolute B!tch to get back in (each is spring loaded). I took it apart to clean it, etc. I finally got it back together, but it was tough.

If your mirror switch is the same as on a '88 Mondial (I think it is) then, it is true that a bmw mirror switch from a '82 - '88 bmw 5 series will fit. It is, in fact, the exact correct part. Said another way, if you examine your ferrari mirror switch, you'll notice the bmw roundel on the back side and a bmw part number. It's no myth. I know because I bought one from a bmw wrecker and replaced the broken switch on my '88 - exactly the same part.

I had the same problem last year and i couldnt find one the bmw thing is rubbish, i know because i tried lots of them. there is a co in the uk that have one i handled it 2 weeks ago it came out of a 328 which was involved in a real bad smash but the guy who owns the co. will rip you off they are called Eurospares he wanted £150.00 plus vat for a switch that cost £29.00 so i didnt buy it. he probably still has it at that price.good luck. http://www.eurospares.co.uk/

I had to replace mine 2 or 3 years ago & was fortunate enough to get one from Ferrari. The BMW switch is not for a a 328 but I believe there is a common part between BMW & earlier 308s.

Radioman, didn't you read the thread? I just indicted above that the same part is comon for a 5 series BMW and the Mondial (and likely the 328 also). I know this from first hand experience. Apparently you were unable to find one, so therefore you don't have first hand experience. Pretty simple concept here.

I did find one in fact i found two but in my search i also tried 10 different bmw switches, i am in the motor trade so getting the switches free was not a problem but not one of them was the same as my 328 gts switch, i drove my car for 1 year with a hole in the door and i was tearing my hair out trying to get this damm switch i even contacted dennis mcann in the US and he sent me a switch from a mondial which was different and on the back of the switch it had BMW on it so i think thats where the myth comes from, so when i say that there is not a switch from BMW that will fit a 328 gts i know what i am talking about, not a difficult concept eh?

I've had dealings with Eurospares and they are a good company, Ok not all things are that cheap but as a whole they were a lot cheaper than most non offiial parts suppliers

The BMW switches are very close..but they are not the same. I have searched and searched. I service BMW cars aswell as Ferrari and other exotics. Every BMW that enters the shop I have a look at the power mirror switches. None to date have matched up to fit the 328 switch. Thats alot of switches looked at.

Guess we'll just have to disagree radioman. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the bmw switch in my mondial cab. Good luck to you.

I haven't taken a good look at a 328 switch, sounds like it's different from the earlier 308/Mondials which did use the 5 series BMW switch.

However, my '82 308 QV came with a BMW switch, broken of course. Back in '01 I bought a used replacement from T.Rutlands & it too had the BMW logo.

Hi Chris, OK, that makes sense. I guess the 328 switch is particular to ferrari and not the product of another manufacturer. Looks like it's going to be somewhat expensive to replace unfortunately. Anyway, glad we could figure it out.

The knob is very similar to the BMW part but the mounting plate is curved on a 328. Perhaps they were made by the same company but are not the same part.

    Maybe Bosch made them?

    Boys,
FYI, the 328 switch is not the same as the 308/mondial. The 328 switch is
very similar to a BMW 633csi switch, but not the same, the plug pins
are different and the switch body is smaller at the surround area. I
think that the 328 switch was mfg specifice for the 328 by Mera Co,
in italy, same mfg as the 308 switch but specific to the 328 only. The
328 switch is NLA from Maranello or anyone else AFAIK. Also the 308
/Mondial switch is no longer mfg or stocked, although there are still a
    few around.

Thanks for all the info on the switch. I took mine apart and the springs are completely compressed . I will try to find replacement springs to see if that will make it work

As has been said, the swuitch is NLA from Ferrari & does not, as far as anyone can tell, match up with any other part (BMW or otherwise). Your most likely route to success is to find one off a wrecked car. Eurospares or Douglas Valley Breakers are your best bet to start with I would think
