As previously posted only had my 328 for 3 weeks and enjoying the experience. A few general questions if anyone could assist with:- Head restraints - are the adjustable for height? It says they are in the manual but they wont move? Air con - motor noise coming from the front compartment - its not a fan noise more like a rumble which goes when I switch the air con off . It can be annoying.Air con seems to work but wouldn't say its icy cool - more like slightly chilled air. Battery - where is it? The manual diagram seems to show it in front compartment but I cannot find it. It must be there somewhere - under spare wheel? You guessed it not mechanically minded but doesn't stop me loving a great car. Thanks
F328: * headrests - yes, they move, but can be very stuck-ish. I grip mine securely on both sides then lift up or down - you may need to yank it a bit(NOT toooo much!). Gripping on both sides, you can get some leverage on the top of the seat to gradually pry the headrest up. Had to go check mine, as haven't moved 'em since i bought the car, some 15 yrs ago(!) * battery - yes, it's up front, beneath the spare tire. Remove the little cover and there you go. Battery is held in by a clamp at the bottom of the front of the battery - socket + entension will do nicely to remove. * A/C - not sure exactly what your problemo is... however, my a/c only works well for short times, then no more cooling. I believe there is a dedicated a/c fan inside the wheel well, in front of the right front wheel. If you turn the wheel, you can see the cover grating inside the wheel well. Mine is not working, gonna fix it eventually, but till then, i only run the a/c very short time periods, as don't wanna cause overheating, hose bursting, etc. Further evidence of this being my problem is that if i run at highway speeds, there is apparently enough air flow to substitute for the a/c fan and it works ok. Not sure if you might be suffering similar problemos.
Thanks for the replies - much appreciated. Part of the ownership experience is finding out all about the car - been fortunate enough to own quite a few different cars over the years but this 328 has really got to me big time. Never waxed a car so much!! Cheers
BTW, because of the "hidden" location of the battery, Ferrari batteries are notorious for being neglected. I would highly recommend removing the spare tire and opening the cover. Remove and clean both posts (AND both clamps), and tighten securely (you can also put some of those treated felt washers on if you like). Also, top up the electrolyte level with some distilled water. Doing this, will prevent you from a "no start" situation in the future. If you do this yearly, you will be way ahead of the game.
So true...from experience! I check my battery every 3 months, etc., and even with such care my 2-year battery went dead recently. Hopefully it will be the least of my worries now w/ the Optima and battery tender.
