I have a friend that has a 86 euro 328 that he bought new in Italy. The car stalls out, after sitting for a while restarts and does it again. I checked the ground connector near the battery already this is what he told me-
Regarding the Ferrari we had driven it about 14 miles and were in traffic
at a traffic signal and the car stalled. After stalling it would not start again
after numerous try's with no electrical power. None of the electrics would
respond to anything power windows, lights except fan for AC. After waiting 5 minutes it
started up and ran until waiting at next traffic signal and the same happened
again. Has to be a connection that disconnects when warm. They are getting old and will sell it if it is worth very much----

Start with the battery connections, the fuse box, and the various ground points rear of the cabin.

There's no magic answer here; your friend is simply going to have to find the bad connection, just as you would do in any other car. Start with the most likely things, and move on from there.

The bad connection is likely at the main fuse board, where all the power converges for relay and fuses. The 328 is know to have some weak links on that board around the fuel pump connections and a few more. It will be fairy obvious once you remove the board from the car and inspect them. Brown or black spots give themselves away.

Yes - totally agree. also check behind the passengers foot well board. peel back the carpet, and un do the 4 bolts that hold on the food board, there are several connectors back there that may also be burned out. the connectors are large white plastic multi pin connectors. The fuel pump one is pretty easy to spot and usually gets overheated and burned out. if you are having no power at all, however it seems to me it could be a circuit or delamination in the fuse panel it self - in which case you need to either rebuild the board or do a replacement. 328 Electrics are about its only major flaw... sadly I know them well!

This happened to me last Fall. It would run then just stop. Weird. Turned out to be the connector on the fuse for the fuel pump. It was old, getting hot, turning black and was just plain loose.

That's all it was. Clipping it off and putting a new one on was the 30 second repair it needed.

there is something similar that happens to early 328's, the white connector under the foot well passenger side, one of the connections inside powers the fuel pump which also gets hot and becomes bad over time.
