Would like to have my rear spolier painted. Anyone know what color they came from the factory. I know black, but what shade? Flat, Satin, ETC. Want to keep it the original color.

I think they are all balck vinyl, I know mine is. GTS's are textured, GTB's are smooth. In 1989 and perhaps earlier, an option was offered to have them painted body color at the factory. I think it was aboout $350. Some GTB's were done, don't know about GTS's. Lots of people get them painted body color now (I'm considering mine). Just check around.

Mine is not textured--very smooth--just want to paint it back to original. Someone told me my roof is supposed to have a texture and that is smooth also. Don't know if it is stock or not. Having the roof painted red to match next week.

    I assume you are talking about a 328GTS, not 328GTB ...

The targa top is flat black and rough-textured (in the material, not the paint). I had a couple of nicks in the back of mine, and touched it up with flat black enamel from a hobby shop. The nicks disappeared perfectly.

That targa top is plastic. If you try to sand down a nick, the roughness will disappear very quickly and you'll get a smooth surface. So if you try to even out a nick, use extremely fine sandpaper and be careful not to overdo.

As for the spoiler, well, they all come black, but how much shine you want on it is not just a function of the paint, but how you dress it later (such as Armor-All or a polish). I would call it flat-black (I know it isn't gloss), but a good body shop might suggest a nice satin which would look good and not be as susceptible to every little spot as flat. Flat can't help but look "old, faded, worn out".

Your choice, but I wouldn't paint the targa top to match the car's paint. The GTS was not designed to look that way; the GTB was.

After searching for a decent GTB for 6 months --I bought the GTS so paint it I shall. Take a look at MDshore348's car--TS with painted roof to match--looks fantastic

Many of the European cars (I think all the UK cars) have the spoiler painted to match body colour & its smooth.
