I looked around the thread and didn’t find an answer so I apologize if the answer already exists. My rear view mirror no longer stays up or holds its position. It just sort of droops. I try to get it to stay but it just flops back down. I realize all of the jokes that could come from this as well lol. Anyone have a clue on this? Thanks in advance for any help. You might be able to rotate the zinc looking retaining ring a bit more clockwise to tighten on the ball ? This is a 70 s mirror pic .Hopefully yours is similar construction ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did the same in my Mondial many years ago, I took it off the screen and managed to nip it up easily but cannot recall if I took it to pieces or how I did it.
If Portofino's remedy does not help. Apply very liquid glue (such as second glue) that will fill the minimal gap, wait an hour or two and break the glue by correctly positioning/turning the mirror. Don't promise that it will last 30 years, but it will certainly be good for a long time, at least if Madame doesn't always use the mirror to make a toilet . You can also try a liquid locking agent as long if it is very liquid such as Loctite has several. By the way, happy new year to everyone and a great 2024.
How certain are we that if I go pulling on this mirror I’m not going to break something? Meaning are we sure it’s that type of attachment in the 328? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Here’s the problem, where I’m pointing with a screwdriver sometimes goes out of shape as in it will collapse and no longer hold tension for the flip tab with a small tabs on the shaft (last pic) to adjust the mirror so I added a small square nut big enough to fit in there to expand the gap and to keep it straight (first pic) then I added a small piece of aluminum between the pull tab shaft and where the square nut is pushing out to give a little bit more tighter, it’s all working great now.
