I've changed the switches around and they all seem to work - just not in the position needed to control the passenger window from the driver's door. I believe that current runs through the driver's door switch before making its way to the passenger door window motor, and that both switches must be connected for the passenger window motor to work. But I'm a bit confused as to why it why I can't control the passenger window from the driver's door. Help!

I just went through this with my car but not sure your 328 is wired the same as my 79 308. If it is, my guess is that it’s simply a matter of switching around some of the connectors on your switch. Keep in mind that you essentially have 12v running to both sides of your lift motor in the window at all times (with the key on). When you depress the switch on either the drivers side or passenger side, you are grounding one of those connections depending on whether you are raising or lowering the window.

power comes from the fuse block to the left (drivers side) switch. That wire is then jumpered to both sides of your drives side switch (one side mi es lift up, the other moves it down). From there it goes out to two separate wires feeding your right side switch this circuit is closed, or continuous without touching the switch. You can check to see which terminals are NC by using a multimeter to see which terminal feed and which terminal is connected when you depress the switch. This is probably confusing to read, so I will work on a diagram to show you and post tomorrow.

If your switch looks anything like this,my thoughts are you have wire1 reversed with wire 3, and wire 4 reversed with wire 6 on my diagram

Again based on your description, your drivers side switch is probably wired correctly, but your passenger side is the one that needs correction.
