have just received leather cover to go over the roof for when it is "stored" behing the seats .... problem is that it keeps falling off when "drapped" over it . Should it have straps/latches to hold it in place ? There are 2 clip points on back shelf but not sure if that is what they are for . Can anyone please give me some advice ? Thanks .

There are four clips - two on the back shelf and two on the floor - these often pull out - sop your roof goes pins down top forward - the cover goes over it with the seam near the top - the two clips then go over the pins by the driver/passenger shoulder on the bulkhead and the other two on the floor behind their hips - does that help ?

The factory cover is actually black vinyl, not leather. Replacements don't always come with the snaps. This picture shows you what the top snaps look like, but as previously stated, there are also snaps on the bottom/floor.

Snaps can be ordered from Lyle Tanner (source of the picture) or the other usual sources such as Ricambi America, T. Rutlands, or even your local Ferrari dealership.

I bought a new cover from Ferrari UK. Not knowing the snaps would come on it - I also bought four new snaps.

They are available for sale in case yours are not there.

I also remember that the new cover took a bit of time before it got stretched a bit to fit easily.

Not that it really matters, but the 328 manual and 308 manual both show that the "proper" way to store your GTS top is pins UP top forward...

Forget what the factory says. When the pins are on top, it difficult to put the roof back on (unless the back of the roof is facing the front). When I take off my roof, I unlatch the rear latches, pull the roof back with the straps up in the air, and slide the pins with the top facing the front down, and put it behind the seats. When you want to put it back on, just reverse it. Pull the top staight up, and slide the pins in and close the latches. The factory way you have to turn the top around to insert the pins. While doing this, chances are the roof will drop either on your car or the floor. One straight motion. Easy and simple.

I've tried it both ways and I agree with you 100%.

The picture is not clear if it is the pins or latches that are up when you stow the top, IMO.

Can you order just the clip the one that's on the vinyl? Mine keeps popping off, but the pins seems to be ok, if so, where can I order it? Thanks

I have one bad one - they just screw into the vinyl, so yes you can just buy the female fitting. My mechanic has a bunch on order from somewhere. I'll let you know if there's any drama involved in the installation.

I didn't see them on Ricambi, sent an email to Rutlands as well to see if they're in stock.

I've heard they're used on other cars too, just without the imprinted prancing horse...

I needed one and picked it up at the local Ferrari dealer (Shelton). It was about $40.

I also suspect that the vinyl will shrink over time and the cover may not fit well, especially if it hasn't been used often.

Put it out in the warm sun (if available) for 15 minutes. The warmth will help it stretch to the proper size with ease!

Yes, I've seen a couple of cars where the pins eventually wore HOLES in the carpet when stored pins down....

If they have the prancing horse imprint, that's probably about right... if not, that's probably high...

I was told to store the pins up or they will wear holes in the carpet. I don't have a cover, but I store mine, pins up, front of the top to the back of the car. I'm tall so this allows me to lean the seat further back.
