Having recently purchased a 328, I noticed several of the cars (different production years) I looked at had the small Ferrari emblem located in the lower front corner of the side door mirrors. Was this an option or is there some logic or reason for the emblem appearing on different cars of the same year? I remember reading an article stating these side mirrors were only available for the 1989 model year. If this has been discussed in the past, I would appreciate if someone could provide the link. Thanks for your help.

My 1988 328 GTS has the little Ferrari emblem on the outside mirrors.

Life is good. It's better if you are driving a Ferrari.

IIRC, they were factory-installed on the U.S.-spec 1989 328s, not on the earlier 328s. Not sure about the 1988.5 cars.

I dont have all my materials here with me but I am pretty sure all 88's had them, not just the late version.

Also, we replaced many of those mirrors at the dealer and once the mirrors with emblems started being used Ferrari only supplied those. Many earlier cars got late mirrors installed. What any particular car has now is not a certain indication of what it came with.

I believe the 88.5s were also delivered with the horse/emblem on the US spec flag shaped mirrors.

    Best regards,

Yes, mine is a Oct 88 production or 88.5. It came with the horse/emblem.

You may be right about the 88s. My friend has an earlier 1988 car (not an 88.5) and I checked a photo of his car, and it has the horses on the mirrors.

    Best regards,
    Dino

I looked the tiny emblems on my '89 mirrors, looked like Ferrari simply glued the emblems on the mirrors with double-side rubber tape. If you want you can retrofit your mirrors doing the same thing, these emblems are tiny so they maybe a bit hard to find.

The Euro mirros are totally different from the Flag shape US mirrors. I believe all Euros have them regardless of year. The US spec cars did not have them on their Flag shaped mirrors in 86 or 87.

Thanks to everyone for your responses and input. Thanks to 308gts79, I researched the link provided and it appears the emblem mirrors started with #75929. Another interesting point I found while doing the research was service bulletin 00-32 (7/15/89). A new Connolly leather was introduced with #79662 which resulted in “…difference in color and tone.”

What mirror is that in the pic? Is that a standard euro mirror?

A number of them quit working. Also people want to fold them for putting on a car cover or make more room to walk around the car in the garage. They break doing that. They fold to comply with crash standards, not for convienence.

Emblem mirrors started at 71597 per Ferrari and the so called flag mirrors are for USA, Saudi Arabia and Japan.

That vin is mid year (May) 87 and also corrosponds to the inner door handle change.

75929 was when the exterior door handle changed.

The emblems look like cuff links.
Cuff links have metal studs to help hold them in place.
