The hazard switch lights up when the headlights are on, but I don't think that helps much. I have looked at the wiring diagram but I haven't come up with anything. Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh, I checked the fuse too.

Do the turn signals start to flash when you turn your lights on your car? or just the hazard light switch on the dash light up?

Can you Post a pic of the fault? and a pic of the wiring diagram?

Can you describe the specific problem?

Slow / no blink is often one of the signal bulbs out.

Turn signals blinking all the time may be the column switch.

What precisely is the issue you're trying to solve?

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

There is no functionality of the lights at all. Prior to them not working, they were intermittent. They would work one day, and not the next.

I'm not sure if I can post a pic of the fault since having no lights is a boring pic. :) The wiring diagram is a few pages in length. Here is the link.

Thank you very much for any other help. I would have answered earlier but notifications don't seem to be working for my new threads, just the old one. Hmm...

I am not meaning to hijack this thread, but do any of you know a replacement part for the hazard switch on an 87 328? I was at an auto show, just sitting there and the hazard flashers just came on. The button no longer stays down in the off position. I have not been able to locate a part number.

    Thanks in advance.

I purchased my new one from Ricambi America. Daniel and Dave will always treat you well, but even they can't get parts like this cheap. :)

If you want to pay for a new one ($260 if I remember) you can, but if you want I can take a look at it for you. I actually took mine apart and if yours is working but not staying down, I can see if I can fix it before you drop the $$.

Okay, sure, thanks for the offer. Let me see if I can get it out. Is there a trick to getting the back switches out so I can get at the back screws to remove the console? I have tried prying up on them but I am concerned about breaking the plastic.

Take the ashtray out and remove those screws. The center part of the console (not the entire console) should now be loose. If you slowly raise it you can disconnect the lighter and the right hand fan switch. The hazard switch is held in by a plastic nut than is on the bottom of the switch. After that, the switch will pull though up through the console. Let me know if you need any clarification.

    Gene,

Okay, so far so good. Got the switch out. Looks like the switch comes apart at the middle. Are you willing to look at it? If so PM me with an address and I'll send it.

    Thanks,

    John

    John,

I got the switch in today and fixed it. There is a metal lever that slides in a set of grooves. The metal lever was bent a bit that sent it off track. Just a quick straightening and you are back in business. I charge $150 per hour for consulting, so with the amount of time it took me the total charge is 89 cents. :)

No problem John. The switch looked great when I got it. You or the PO must have changed it sometime lately, or mine was just really ugly. :)
