All, I have done the usual search of issues with regards to my signal light woes and still cannot resolve it. The car is an 89 328 GTS. I checked all the bulbs by switching from left to right and all work on the right side. Sprayed the signal light stalk with electrical contact cleaner as well as the hazard light switch, also found a ground wire in the wrong place and placed it back in its rightful place. Here are the symptoms: 1) When I make a left hand turn signal none of the lights (front and back light up). 2) With Hazard light switch on, fronts light up and right rear light up and LEFT rear side has the backup light lighting up only. 3) Fiddled with the flasher relay by spraying contact cleaner, now when you hit left turn signal, left front lights up and the rear remain off and you get fast pace blink on the dash. So the question now, is the flasher relay defective or do I still need to keep checking elsewhere, before I bring it to my independent repair facility. Thanks for all the help
Ultimately it was turn signal relay. I could get every thing to work fliping my hazard switch 20~30 times. Lasted until there was a semi on my bumper and I had to stop to make a left turn:-( Then I removed the Hazard switch and gave it a through cleaning, that lasted about 6 months. Then I replaced the Hazard switch with a new one. that lasted 0 seconds :-( I replaced the turn signal relay and it has working 2 years Hope this helps. Test it with one you can get at Autozone for $10.00. I have an 81 308 GTSi so I don't know it the part number is the same. You can pull it out and take it with you and they can match it (not brand, but function). Stephen
I assume you know this but the flasher relay is under the dash either just to the right or left of the steering wheel. I had no flashers and thought the relay was out but the manual seemed to point to a relay under the floor board, not under the dash. Turned out I had just accidently unplugged it when doing some wiring under there. Maybe that part is partially not functional? Jeff
