Any thoughts / experience folks have with the following scenario is appreciated. Car starts fine warm or cold. Will idle okay after start. However it is sluggish when you hit the pedal (press it all the way down the it is barely noticeable) and every time you put the clutch in and let the revs start going down to downshift the car will stall. It doesn't sound "off" when the accelerator is being used but when you drop off the accelerator it doesn't sound quite right (no back firing or banging or anything, just not quite right). I'm thinking a fuel system issue but does anyone else have ideas of where to start or other potential issues. Thanks in advance.

Can you verify that you haven't dropped a bank?

Assuming this has the k tronic injection system- have a look on line for the bosch k tronic injection system.
Looking in the engine bay you will see the top of the fuel distributor head, that alloy block with lots of banjo fitted pipes coming out of it. This sends the fuel to the injectors.

Next to this is a round housing and if i remember right it has a disc that should move - this is connected by a pivot lever to the underside of the fuel distributor. As far as i understand it, this disc moves which moves a shaft on the underside of the fuel distributor and alters the fuel flow. If any part of this is sticking it will cause you hesitation.

Note there are people on here more up to speed than me and i dont have my old mondial to refer to these days.
There was a thread about the distributor shaft sticking .

Thanks to all. The more i think about this (and having talked to some folks who are more knowledgeable than I), i think I may have lost a bank. I would have expected the car to run rough, etc. but apparently these don't due to the camshaft design. The car is going into Competizione this week and I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it. I appreciate the replies from folks and the thoughts.

If you think you have lost a bank, let it go cold then start it up. Put your hand on the exhaust you will soon find out.

Thanks. Yep, nothing out of the left side (consistent with the exhaust sounding off when I had to drive it a few miles back home).

If you have lost a bank of cylinders, don't drive the car until you fix it. It can cause a fire. It will pump raw fuel into the exhaust.

Thanks. Yep, I'm having it trailered. Thankfully I didn't have to drive far home with the car (4 or so miles) and at the time i didn't know what the issue was (I wouldn't have driven it if I had). No fire or smoke, so it would seem I dodged a bullet.

Turns out that the issue with the loss of a bank was a bad ignition coil module for the 5-8 bank. Thankfully it wasn't something more concerning (or potentially expensive)!
