    Today I ran my 328 at a variety of different speeds, up to 80 MPH. Using a Navigon GPS on my Iphone I discovered the the indicated speeds and the GPS speeds are essentially the same IF, yeah, IF, I did NOT reference the speed from the center red/orange line in the middle of the needle. Instead, if I looked at the EDGE of the needle behind the red line it was essentially right on. In other words, if red centerline was pointing at 60, the rear edge of the needle is pointing at about 55. And 55 is exactly what the GPS showed. This held true at all speeds up to 80 - the red centerline shows 5MPH faster than I was actually going. Actually, this is not really a bad thing...

    I tried that too recently with my Garmin Quest II GPS and believe it or not, they
    both matched all the way up to 60.... however beyond 60, the needle read slower than
    the GPS.... but we don't have speed zones above 60 around here and I rarely
    speed ;) so I think it's OK.

    Veglia = Vague-lia :D

    Of course, ALL of our cars are going 10 MPH even when turned off in the garage :D :D

    What about at 145mph? That will really give us something to go from.

    Mike that's pretty close to what Mine read too, I just figured it needed a recalibration.

    Since mine seems to read 5MPH fast it would seem "simple" to adjust the needle itself on the pivot...But I'm sure it's not and it's not something I would bother with.

    I had the car at an indicated 140+ out in AZ/NV desert when I bought it/drove it from Vegas to MD but I didn't have a GPS at that time. The car was a lot more fun at those speeds out there than at a mind-numbing 50-60MPH northbound on the I-state from NC to DC and on to Annapolis... :(

    I performed a similar GPS test on my car. The speedo was dead accurate to 55mph, and then it became optimistic to the tune of about 1-2mph per 10mph faster over 60mph. I know what the speed is supposed to be due to rpm to gear ratios so I clearly noted the speedo to be 9mph optimistic at 100mph. I have had it at an indicated 157mph which I am sure was closer to 145ish.
