Is there a plan or layout available on where all the stickers, emblems etc should be located on a 86 328 GTB? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thanks but need to know all the sticker Locations mainly. eg under the boot, (engine lid) around door frame and under the bonnet (trunk)
Here is the placement for my 89, 328 GTS. US car. I am aware the spare is not correct. It is what I want in the event I ned to use one. I did make a handful of these two stickers. My DOT brake fluid was curling up at the edges. Exact size, color. High-quality matt-finish vinyl. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The full size spare was an option in certain markets, hence why the wheel housing in the front "trunk" are molded such that they can accommodate the full size spare perfectly. Some people claim that having a full size spare in the front helps with turn in because it puts a bit more weight over the front axle, others say it makes little difference in reality. I'm in the UK and have the full size spare in my '89 GTS. Mine is fitted the other way up (outer face facing downwards), and held down with the original retaining bolt to prevent it bouncing around. This leave the inside of the wheel available to use for some additional storage space (it's not massive, but you can still get some stuff in there when need be) With the stickers, a curious one is the sticker on the coolant header tank. Some (if not most) pictures of the header tanks show the sticker on the surface of the raised section right next to the filler (as yours is). Some pictures though, that appear to be original header tanks, show the sticker on the surface of the raised section that is one place ahead of the filler (one section closer to the rear window) My suspicion is one of the following: 1) In general, Ferrari fitted the sticker next to the filler, but on occasions, either someone new was on the job, or the person putting the stickers on didn't pay attention, and put the sticker on the wrong section. Or: 2) Although the header tanks with the sticker on the surface one place ahead of the filler look original, they are actually replacement tanks that were fitted years ago, and the stickers were fitted on the wrong surface. My original header tank has some corrosion inside it, so I have a brand new one to fit to the car. My original sticker is on the surface next to the filler, (the same as yours), so that's where the new sticker will be going.
I do have the original retaining bolt, but I like my time in this incorrect position. It just looks better to me. But you are correct. I have never made a study of front-end handling characteristics. Sticker placement. I looked for a couple hours at the placement of the DOT break sticker; I agree with you. I just went with the most common placement. It has always driven me nuts about the placement of the 328 GTS badges on the back end, so I removed them the other day and hand-cut new double-sided 3M tape to place them in the "correct" position. Mine were set too high. This I also have seen on other cars during a search. My car was not in an accident, not repaired. I've restored cars so I know when a bolt has been removed and replaced, over spray etc. I think some guy at the factory just did not pay attention while in class. There is always that one guy. When I was evaluating my 328 for purchase, I noticed the rear 328 GTS badging was out of place. Asked the seller and he was puzzled until he looked at before/after photos when the car went out for paint correction work. Appears the detailer took the badges off in their original position prior to polishing and then carefully reinstalled them in the positions used by the 308, similar to your photo. Best we can figure is that the guy used a photo of a 308 or actual 308 for badging reference. Anyway, I thought that was a good example of discovering a discrepancy during inspection and then tracking it down with good records. Often on these cars, there are mysteries with no information trail.
That was my thought as well. However, when doing a Google search for 89 328 TGS exclusively, I have seen other very low mile examples (mine has 26,600) and some with only 5 -6000 miles with badging in the place where mine was. But you're correct, rebadging is one reason and I still think someone at the factory just wasn't paying attention. The same goes for expansion tank stickers, DOT brake fluid stickers etc. So, I'm putting them where they look most appropriate. Thank you for your input S219.
How about this for out of position 328 GTS badging?: https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1409913 How does anyone get both badges THAT wrong?
My 1986 GTB is a UK RHD car, non ABS. Can anyone tell me if there is a sticker/label on the underside of the front boot/hood lid? If so, what is the label/sticker information. Thanks
Hi Rick, Are you asking for the brake fluid sticker, window washing fluid sticker, or both? Can you upload a picture of what you currently have/don't have?
