in the process of changing out my thermostat, I have a quick question about removal of the housing that covers it. There are 3 bolts around the housing and one larger brass one at the top. I have removed the three that attach the housing but the housing is not coming loose, do I did not want to push it too hard until I verify that that big brass bolt on the top of the housing did not have to be loose as well.

    any help would be great!!!!!

The big brass one on top is the bleeder valve. I don't think it needs to be loose, but I don't think loosening it would hurt anything, if you're removing the housing anyway. Just don't forget to tighten it again. ;) (And remember to turn on your heater cores when bleeding the air out of the system, afterwards.) (The other bleed valve is on the top of the radiator (on the right side).)
