She lost a significant amount of power last night with a "putt putt" sound coming from the passenger side exhaust... First I thought I would check that all cylinders are firing but...

Can anyone advise the location of a 12 volt power point in the engine compartment in order to use a timing light? I have scoured the maintenance manuals with no luck and simply don't see anything that looks like it could have 12 volts on it in the engine bay... Certainly I don't need to run an extension all the way back up to the battery compartment?

Thanks in advance for any assistance... This one may take a while to troubleshoot....

See attachment for schematic of test plug on 328 L/H sail panel. The 12V positive is the most forward pin. You may want to put a dab or paint on the top of the pin for future reference.

The pins are kind of hard to get a test clip on, but a local electronics store (not sure about Radio Shack) will probably carry .062 dia pin & socket connetors that fit on those pins. (Molex part number 1561-60) Bought a pack of 12 for $2.00.

Good Luck with your testing--hope it is a loose coil wire or something else simple.

    Mark,

Thanks for the advice! Will head to Radio Shack first thing this morning. I am definitely hoping for a simple fix... Too nice of weather here in Houston to be "grounded" from the open road!

    Will revert on my findings....
