I have had my beautiful 328 GTS for 4 years and feel its time for a change. With respect the 360 does nothing for me just too big but I am thinking of a 355 . I know its all subjective but has anyone else made the move and regretted it. Thoughts on F1 box?

    Thanks

I think 285ferrari went from a 328 to a 355F1, he may be able to shed some insider light on the subject.

I think it would be a great move up, I agree wholeheartedly on the 360 thing, many here feel the same way. The 355 is enough of a step to be very noticeably faster and the looks and sound are some of the best ever IMO.

Best bet would be to take a few for a drive, you will soon see and feel the difference.

Good luck with the search. :)

Yes, a correct route. If you can afford a 430 and like the look I would say a better route.

Yes, I did--- I still miss the 328, raw, gritty in your face driving experience and it is awesome----What got me was the power difference I just love the power of the 355 and had to move to it... Don't care for the 360 so much either...

Thanks for the responses. Went to see a 1996 Manual with 4k miles on the clock. Have to say it looked fantastic. Just waiting for some figures on cost to change but it felt so right just sitting in it let alone driving it. Will see how the money side stacks up.

Omigod, in the UK you have access to probably the best 348 ever made - the 348GTB Competitizione. That's the ticket.

You might PM BrianC on FChat -- went from a 328 to a 355 then back to a 328.

If I ever moved on from my 328, I'd probably look at a 512TR for something different, or (if my bonus this year defies reality...) an F40.

Between the 360 and 355, though, I'd agree with the comments here: I think Ferrari lost something with the 360/F430, both aesthetically, and in terms of inching more toward the luxe than sport.

The 355 is a repairs and maintenance HOG. Ask any Ferrari parts retailer - they make their living off of 355 repairs. If this hasn't been your experience with a 355, you're fortunate.

That said, it's the most beautiful modern-era Ferrari IMO.

Just know what you are getting yourself into. The purchase price just gets you in the door.

My first year maintenance was about the same...

Anyone looking into a 355 should include a $10-$15k buffer but for that you get everything sorted and then dont have to deal with much. I never had any problems after I paid that first bill.

Just curious, how much are they asking for the 1996 4k miles in the UK, is it a coupe or GTS or Spider? I assume you're looking also for right hand drive; otherwise here in the US you can buy F355 for very good prices, prices have gone down allot here.

Just to be on the safe side you might want to up your savings amount, I had a 15,000 mile Fiorano that needed 20K to bring her back. Hey Robbie I thought you said that a 328 was like driving a high powered go kart :D:D:D:D

The car I am looking at is around £50k and is a Coupe RHD manual. It will come with a warranty from the dealer so hopefully that would partly alleviate any intial hidden dramas. Full service history and belts done last year so believe another two years until next change. This car was sold by the same dealer last year for £60k so £10k in 12 months at retail level less the dealers profit !!

Still undecided what to do - I have a part exchange figure from the dealer and asked him to cost in a Tubi and carbon sill plates.

Will take my time and sleep on it over the weekend I think as my 328 is fantastic.

Where is that fiorano now? From what I recall it was sold at a great price considering everything you put into it. With it being an all nero manual it was the best of the models IMO ......!

Just to update I have purchased the 355 GTB with just under 4k miles on it. Really looking forward to driving it - collect in two weeks. Gives me time to start saving for the repair bills !

Thanks to everyone who posted comments.
