I have a problem with turn signals on my 88 328 gts.
The turn signals keep going out. I suspect it is the relay.

I have pulled and inspected the fuse and replaced it to make sure that the fusebox fuse connection was sound. Replacing the fuse always causes the signals to work perfectly again. Sometimes, however, after only a few minutes the signals refuse to work again.

While searching the archives I read said that cycling the emergency flashers would fix the problem. My owners manual shows that this is a different relay from the emergency flasher. Anyway it doesn't seem to work.

I feel that the relay may be getting bound up or sticking in a position that wont let go until I pull the fuse and replace it. Is this plug and play? The book doesn't show a number for that relay.

With all the traffic on Tampa's roads, I feel like a sitting duck without turn signals!!

    Thanks for your insights. Randy

    Hi,

I lost my turn signals twice recently. The first time it was the flasher which will cross with several brands from any well stocked auto parts store.

The second time the problem was a bit more insidious. I changed the flasher again (nothing), I tried the emergency flasher trick (nothing) even disassembled the flasher (nothing wrong), I printed up a wiring diagram and traced all the wires. The culprit was the relay/fuse panel connector. Mine obviously had some incident in the past and had some compromised pins and contacts, I cleaned and bent them as best I could to insure contact and my turn signals have been working ever since.

    Good luck.

    Bill

I opened the foot well relay panel and discovered that there is no relay in the socket for the turn signals as shown in my owners book. I am confused...I found a flasher relay under the dash next to the steering column. It does seem to work with both emergency flashers and turn signals. When did this change? Does the fuses for the flasher and turn signal still act separately?
