Strange, my **** 348 spider will redline in top gear with no problem.
You sound like an idiot. The "88.5 / 89" snobbery is getting pretty old. You overpaid for the identical day to day experience only to get wheels that the majority of people dislike cosmetically (see recent poll). Get over yourself. "348's are ****" is also a really ignorant statement. I hope people don't think all 328 owners are like you.
I've never owned a 328, but do own a carbed 308 and an "ugly" 348. I do 99% of my own mechanical work including a 2000 complete rebuilding of my 308 engine, and a 2006 pulling of the 348 motor for the 30K service. Both cost lots of $$ in parts. Labor costs were my own time (many many hours), but the wealth of knowledge I gained was enormous and worth every hour of it.(thanks to the unselfish help from Brian Crall) But to compare a 328 to a 348 in service costs is ignorant. All Ferrari's cost money to own and maintain, period. The 348 definitely has more power (mine calib'ed 318bhp on dyno. with new X-Ost and HF cats). The 348 is more modern in looks and mechanically. So it all comes down to personal taste and preference in your ride. Buy what you can afford to drive and maintain, and what suits your driving pleasure.
I'm confused. What's ignorant about it? Ignorant because there's an obvious difference, ignorant because there's no difference, or ignorant because of some other reason? Maybe ignorant isn't the right word here.
I believe he is indicating the service for a 348 is clearly more costly than a 328, both in parts and labor. I have done majors on both. My 348 took considerably more time and parts were an order of magnitude higher. As was posted, I enjoy working on both.
