    PAINT THEM?

I like the idea of color coding wheels to the car, and after much consideration, trial and error, I think the following proposal is worth considering. I have posted the Stock setup first and the Colored setup second, what do you guys think?

I think it adds definition and a bit more punch! I'd probably leave the emblem (not shown) but would seek to make the lugs black. I would do this all by decals so it's all reversible and harmless.

oh my, sorry, but that looks awful.

If you powder coated them all black, I think it would look ok, but I am not digging that painting of the center at all.

I've got one word for you: Batmobile. I think the 308/328 wheels are one of the best features.

But...but...but...I've seen Boxers with similar modifications, surely I can't be the only one who would like to soften the "ashtray" look of the stock wheels!?!

OK, I am on your side. If you kept the centers silver with the horse that might look good. Anyway to experiment with temporay paint?

Add the gold package, some fuzzy dice, a gold chain link steering wheel, and curb feelers, and you should be all set.

hell why dont i give you cash and all 5 of my wheels with the dealer black out treatment for your stock 16's!!! :)

seriously, i dont like the feature at all, and bieng as mine are inch pattern 14x7 1/2 , they are staying on the car when it sells. i would not change your wheels, i would however consider the 288GTO style wheels that usacomp sells, there are threads in the archives about them.

OK, there's obviously something wrong with the Poll. There's hardly any votes, and the "Yes" button is obviously out of order. ;)

Mule, friend, buddy, chum and all around "good guy", thanks for your post. But you didn't leave your address where I might send the gift certificate!?! Actually I was just thinking the same thing later last night; I'm gonna see if I can get ahold of some of that spray paint that washes off. That's the kind you're talking about, isn't it? Then I'll show you.....I'll show you ALL!!!

Well there's nothing like some controversy eh? But I have to vehemently (and almost violently) oppose the categorization that (the addition of) any black on wheels as "Batmobileish". Where was that thread with the black 328 with pinstriping, and the black GT4? Can someone remember which thread that was, and post that pic? Those didn't automatically look bad. (Yes they did) NO THEY DIDN'T!!

And finally, (don't get me wrong, I appreciate the feedback even if there are one or two negative comments blended in) didn't someone post a pic of a 328 (or was it a 348) with aftermarket BLACK wheels that everyone "oooed and awwwwwed" at. And that's just black on black on black on black on black on bl(hmm, lost count...1,2,3,4...that's enough blacks), how creative is that!?!

And finally, (reprise) I would bet, I mean really bet that if I proposed the option below (Black Ice) that it would get better reviews, yet to me it looks worse. Am I right? ("About what Wes?") I don't know anymore!?!

    Best!

Look, the only persons point of view that matters is yours!
unless of course you're married... but..

If you've got photoshop, find some rims you like, colour them, keep the one's you like and go for it!

As simple as that, it's your car man!

I'd say leave the stock wheels alone, and get an aftermarket pair that you like. But as has been said before, it's what YOU like that counts!

The 1st picture is really bad, and the second picture is....well.....very GM looking. Nice rims for a Vette not a Ferrai. If you want to change them, and I can't blame you, the stock ones are old looking, there are so many nice after market rims (17 or 18'").Mules rims are really nice. I hope he didn't really paint them! Did you? But do what you like. I think what you like is not what everyone else likes. The car is so sexy, and I believe that the rims, at least on 308-328 are secondary to the looks of the car itself. If your going with a very open wheel type, you have to change the rotors and the calipers. If not, you car is going to look like a Civic with new rims. The rims that Mule has works well because you can't see the brakes and/or rotors. I would like to see a 355 rim on a 328 with cross drilled rotors and Red Calipers. Anyone?

It's your car, but hey you asked for opinions. Yuck! Make sure you can undo that wheel paint job because it will easily take $1000 or more off the resale value of the car just because it's so butt ugly!

Painting the spokes on 308's black was very popular in the eighties....now it looks very dated. My 78 308 GTS came that way, I promptly painted them back to stock.

If you want to live in the past, then by all means go for it F1Ace! ;)
