I did a search for whistle sound... My search came up with the sound occuring during higher RPMs. Mine only occurs when starting cold (cool weather)... and goes away once the car is warm. Might be the combination of cool weather, Tubi, and straight pipe. Anyone else had this occur? It did not do this in the summer when I picked up the car... just noticed it during the cooler winter (if you can call it that in Texas) months. Not a big concern... just curious if other 328 owners have experienced it.

It's hard to compare sounds via written description, but yes, my 328 whistles a bit on startup and idles a touch high (~1100 RPM if you believe the tach). Then in a few minutes it gets warm and happy and the idle drops and the "whistling" goes away. I'm guessing it's normal, although this is the first one I've owned. Temps/oil pressure look fine.

Temperatures in San Diego have cooled off a lot, getting into the 40's at night.

I've had whistling sounds before upon cold start that turned out to just be the accesory drive belts (e.g. alternator belt). Might be worth a look. If you can squirt a few drops of water at the belt (or that spray they sell for belts) and it stops singing, then you've found the problem.
