There's a small hole in the side of the plastic piece the contacts are mounted to. It should have a spring inside it. The small BB goes on top of the spring.

To reinstall your knob do the following:
    0) Get a clear drycleaning bag & work inside of it as the BB will take off into the nether regions of your interior if you accidently slip.
    1) Align the knob so that the blade deep inside the knob will go crosswise between the ends of the contacts. (Make sure that the blade is still there, they sometimes break off).
    2) The knob should have one of the 2 half-cylinder grooves along the inside of the knob is lined up, or very close to lined up with the BB hole. If necessary, line the groove up.
    3) With the groove on the switch as close to the BB hole as possible, press the ball down on top of the spring & slide the grove in the switch over it.
    4) Gently verify that the knob now works. If it doesn't then either the blade wasn't between the contact ends, or a contact is bent. In either case, remove the knob, & if the contacts look good, try using the other groove.
    5) Once the knob is working properly , press the plastic retaining ring up into the base of the knob & you're done.
