Hi All, as Ton knows, for a while I have been looking around for a 328GTS, preferably red/black here in Belgium. I noticed an add on kapaza.be/detail/719153, 1988 pre-ABS model, ZFFWA20B000075234. I got in contct with the garage selling the car, had a look at it and here are my comments, waiting for your feedback: + interior looks very nice large maintenance, belts A/C etc... are supposed to have been done looked under the car and around and except for some smaal stone chips, car seems fine garage person seemed to be knowledgeable, other cars under repair there include another 328GTS, De Tomaso, Maserati, Lambo,... no problem to get PPI in Monza garage - no history (books, maintenance) stated only 22.000 km but not sure... previous owner not in Belgium, and bought car in Germany price: asking 42.500 Euros doubts: don't know garage (garage High Performance in Nieuwkerken Waas) real km ? So, looking for opinions about this offer or anybody having knowledge of this car/garage.
Car is there for at least one year now. I might believe High Performance has it under consignment since it's owner left the country and lives abroad now. I have seen that car some time ago and remember it to be a decent example that needed some serious clean-up work, maintenance etc. A pity that there's no history on this one.... You don't want to go for a 328 GTB ?
The easiest way to get a feel of whether the km's are real, is to look at the drivers seat. My 328 has 23,000 on the clock and the seats are like new. I recently looked at a black 512BB with "genuine 17,000kms" The drivers seat was really worn, said more like 70,000kms to my eyes. Other than that, 42,000euros is top money for a 328 so make sure it is absolutely perfect. Good luck Simon Edit:- for 42000euros the car should have a continuos service history. There should be no doubt over the km's.
Just my .02 €... 42.000 euros are really a lot of money, justified only by PERFECT conditions overall. It includes history, documentation, tools etc. etc. If the seller is not even into position to grant the mileage, that is not a good beginning. One thing you do not specify is the number of previous owners. If more than 2, again this puts the price above the justfiable target. Remans says that the car has been sitting for more than one year. This leads to more money, as you say that "major is supposed to have been done". In doubt, you will have to replace belts and all fluids as a minimum. Not having seen the car, I certainly cannot say if this is a good deal or not. My suggestion is that you must dig the history of the car a bit more and then apply for a substantial price reduction. Ciao and all the best in your search (it took me more than 1 year...) Eugenio
42K euros for a car without history and not sure of km is way to much. For that amount of money you must get a 328GTS in "concours condition" with all history. As said before: dig out the history and get down that price!! my 0,02
Remember that in the future it will be impossible to sell this car without the service books. 42k euro is a lot of money for this car. In my opinion a car without books should go for 32-35k euro. Why do the books disappear? What is there to hide? I know that you want your 328 GTS very badly. But don't act foolish. Stay calm. The right car is there for you. And don't be afraid to broaden your market and look in Germany for a good example. I bought mine in Germany for less money at an official Ferraridealer with full history and all papers and tools. I sold the car in absolute topcondition for 38k.
Also think price is much to high. Simon, just one remark, seats are sometimes more used on 20.000kms than on 70.000 Kms. Take my example : i'm 2.0 meters and have a weight from about 130.KG.... Hope you understand the seat of my Ferraris is a little bit more used then whe my wife is driving (1.78m + 62KG) greetings, vincent.
Of course your bodyweight will accelerate the patina on the seats, but I don't agree that a seat will look worn after 20.000 km. The seats should still look like brandnew!
"High Performance" is a very small family garage very close to my home, friendly and knowledgeable people IMO. However, I believe Joren is right that the car is already there for some time now, at least a year. They work on Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Detomaso, Alfa,... (mostly '70's, '80's and early '90's models) but cars ussually stay in or around the garage for a long time... There's still a black Countach parked on the side of the street in front for... something like 6 years... could even be more... The 355 Spider I drove a few times used to be maintaned there too... About the 328... sounds good... but also a bit too expensive because of the missing history IMO... A bit suspicious... Good luck!
It's a black 5000 S with white interior and gold coloured rims, you can clearly see that it's been outside for a very long time. I don't know more about the car... maybe it isn't even for sale? It just sits there... Don't have pics or a digital camera for the moment, but if you're patient, I'll see what I can do.
Hi, thanks to all for the valid opinions. I am not in a rush to buy, so, as most of you said, that price should provide for a well taken care of example with full history. I'll discuss about a decent price reduction with the garage and then make up my mind. Even though this example looks good, I also would like to have a history on the car. By the way, I saw the Lambo parked outside, it looked as if it was dragged out of a swamp, all green moss around the windows and of course the light interior does show the wear quite well. Maybe formerly owned by drug dealer ;-)) P.S. the guy at the garage told me some other interesting things; while hisgrandfather was driving off in a 355 F1, in his opinion, that would be the worst car to buy, due to the gearbox problems and the fact that the 5 valves slamming on the older type engine box tends to wear out the engine fairly quickly .... but that's his opinion. His personal favorite would be a 308 Carburator.... Regards, Frank. P.S. since I am on the look out for my 328, anybody interested in my Silver Mercedes SLK 200 from 1998, perfect condition at 13.500 Euro; should make a nice present for your wife or daughter's 18th birthday ;-))
Frank, Did you take a look at this one? The milage sounds more realistic. This car is sharply priced. http://www.autoscout24.be/nl-be/detail.asp?ts=3078290&id=41113925
Or this one? This one looks really great! You buy it at an official dealer and can negotiate a brandnew service before purchase. If I was in the market for a 328 I would definitely have a look at this one. http://www.mobile.de/SIDjhTNsYtFaPyIkc2p9CmBTw-t-vaNexlCsAsCsK%F3P%F3R~BmSB11Iindex_cgiJ1110357591A1Iindex_cgiD1100CCarY-t-vctpLtt~BmPA1B21B20B44%81C-t-vCaMkMoSmVb_X_Y_x_ysO~BSRA6D1100D8600C328C328HinPublicA2A0A0A0A0/cgi-bin/da.pl?bereich=pkw&top=26&id=11111111153205820& Ton
The first link doesn't work anymore Ton. I think you should look for a 328. It would give you some time to sell the 996, then you can trade up to a TR. Alex, if you can get pictures that would be great. Black Countach with gold wheels looks stunning IMO. The white interior sounds a bit mmmm. But the gold rims look the business
Link works well here............. mmm......Ton, maybe not a bad id to buy a 328 again and drive it till you trade it for a TR..
You're right, now it works. Does anyone get Classic and Sportscar? There is an article in there about an american owner of a Black Countach LP4000S with gold wheels. Looks fantastic You see Ton, the advice of your friends (cos we know you have none outside Fchat) is to buy a 328. Then you can come to Tuscanny, you know you want to Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ha, ha! I must say that it is definitely not a bad idea! I will think about it. In that case I would definitely consider the one that is offered by Eberlein. It would be easier to use the 328 as a trade in when I upgrade to a 512. I really liked the 328! It gives you the real Ferrari experience when it comes to driving and handling. It could only use a bit more power.
Buy a 328 for the fun. Use the 996 if you want power. Ones the 996 is sold, trade the 328 in on a 512TR at a dealer!! Problem solved!! You can subscribe for the Tusacany and Scotland rally now!!!!
