I've read alot about fusebox issues with 308s in these forums and know about some of the fixes available but what about the 328s? Did the Factory correct this problem in the later model or should I modify the one in my recently acquired GTS?

328 OEM fusebox was a complete redesign and takes modern fuses - no need to replace it.

Ditto. Don't be in a hurry to modify or fix what is not broken. The 328 is a product improved version of the 308 series. They pretty much got it right on that one.

Beautiful car btw, I had an 1987 328GTS. Oh, and get some plastic film to protect the fog lights!! Those things are now "unobtainium". You do not want one shattered by a rock. :(

One word of warning. The 328 fuse panel are NLA. I would not recommend trying to load up your car with a lot of after market electronics. I have one in the shop now that we have had to do extensive electrical repairs to due to this very reason. We were very lucky to be able to save the fusebox.

One other thing to note: while the 328's fuse/relay panel is a new multilayer design, the edge connectors that connect to it aren't really rated for the current some of them carry. Loose or dirty contacts can melt a connection out of the plastic shell, causing an intermittant electrical failure that quickly becomes a plain outage.

So keep an eye out for someone with a source for replacement pins and shells for those connectors -- they're pretty rare.

7 layers of platic it turns out....
Marelli denies ever having made them-God's truth.

I found some odd ball uses in the hrnesses and found that majority are amp connectors used in some pretty weird stuff, non-automobile.
1 request for samples required that I buiy the samples: all 10,000 of them..
Again, honest to God it was true....

A guy in Belgium sent me a fist full as a just go away sort of thing....thjese were for pins in the suspension harness for 355s(?) 550(?) or 456s(?)...getting old and just can't remember...it was 95ish or 97ish so its been a while.
the point is, it is a problem and how comw the classic program won't hbelp here-but want to cast me a block/engine for 80-110K?(elektron parts and all)

my experience with the 328 fusebox:

when i bought my 328 last April i had some minor trouble with the electrics in the car. Headlights that didn't came up, sometimes or non burning bulbs. Also problems with the mirrors and central locking.

On actually the first ride the car's readings were all down, no speedo, no revs no interior lights, the engine was running although......

I had heard of the Italian electrics so i decide to go for it.

I simply pulled all wiring ( obviously after making a schetch of it and removed the fusebox.
It turned out to be repaired by the previous owner already. Some lines on the pastic were burned and fixed quickly..

( i now realise this could heve been better placed in the model specific section, maybe a moderator can do this.)

Than i made the brave decision to dismantle ir completely. pulled all relais and fuses and started.

The fusebox consists of 5 layers of plasic lined copper sheeting with several hundreds of contacts which i removed all, layer by layer. I repaird the burned parts with good solid copperwiring.

Then i cleaned all contacts mechanically, the're made of nickel which tend to corrode forming a flimsy protective but resistant layer. Same for all relais contacts and fuses.
After this i put all parts together again and replaced the box. Connected all wiring again and: all my trouble was gone and kep on beinig gone so far.

All this work took a massive 2 days but until now, it seems to bve worth all trouble. The car did not have one electrical issue since.

That might be because Marelli didn't make them.

The connectors are available here and there. I get many of them on Ebay from electronic suppliers.

After enough time goes by Ferrari will reintroduce the 328 board. They recently reintroduced TR and F40 boards. The price went from $1700 to over $5000. How many do you want? We have been repairing them in a fashion that prevents future trouble with the problem circuts which is just a few and it is quite simple.

Unless one is looking for a coucours model, it looks like st@ven might have fixed the problem. $5k is a bit steep.

I agree but my point was he was looking in the wrong place for help and fixing them is easy.
